Re: WRT route planning help
Draw the route in Osgetamap online (and then convert to a gpx track in bikehike as osgetamap adds in loads of waypoints that scuppers the garmin) or in bikehike.co.uk itself. A top tip is to scope out any potential bridleway/path/track on aerial photos as often what's on the map is invisible on the ...

I've got a TN Argon, they don't seem to make it any more but it weighs bugger all and you can fit two in and have kit storage/doors on both sides.

I used to have a set of these on my '92 Scott Montana. They were vaguely exciting for sprinting up hills. Looks like they could be popular again!

I think they are only available direct:

I was also looking at this as it's cheaper but the output is lower so might take an age to actually charge anything:

Re: Stanforth Bikes - urban expedition?
Steel frames at the cutting edge have got better (853, 931, 953) but I'm not sure that a lugged 631 frame is any better than a '90's 531. In theory it should be better than the original '80's conquests as the butting profiles of the tubes should be more in line with what is required for an MTB. Dep...

I haven't ridden my full susser since September, mainly as I didn't want to wreck it in grotty conditions so it's been rigid rides on either my inbred ss, fargo or fatty. On a single track outing around the woods I took my fatty and my BIL brought his El Mar. Dunno if it was the fork set up, seat he...

Re: Stanforth Bikes - urban expedition?
It's a lot of money to spend to remind yourself how duff bikes were back in the day! I know the Rover Mini sold largely unchanged for 40 odd years but that offered something modern cars didn't. I'm not convinced ye olde mtbs offer the same experience. Retrobike might disagree I guess. If you were de...
