Re: Wanted - bike build stuff for small person

My son has a Gary Fisher Tarpon full bike which he is looking to offload for not very much. I do want the forks off it though, so you'd need to source some from elsewhere. It's all in good condition, a few light scratches, but no dings. 26" wheels, v brakes, not disc. Let me know if you are int...

Re: The post man's been ...

I've been lusting after one for a while and that thread on STW is partially responsible for my purchase.

I took it out for a ride in Epping forest this afternoon and just loved it. On single track it was just amazing bulldozing over roots and bumps and just floating over muddy sections.

Re: Todays ride

Did a nice 45 miler from North West London to Epping Forest and back on the full suss today.

Downside was that 28 of those were road miles.

Upsides were; the forest was empty, the trails were dry and apart from the addition of a soft shell. I was still in summer gear.

Sleeping bag help

I'd appreciate some help or opinions on sleeping bag choice please. I'm considering buying a Cumulus lite line 200 or 300. In all probability, it will likely be used on one or two night bivvying trips in England or Wales only. My first thought was to go with the 300, but I'm worried that this might ...

A very windy and energy sapping muddy 19 miles in The Chilterns. I think it's time to put the carbon geared full suss away for the winter and get the singlespeed out!

Re: What's on your feet?

I've a narrow foot and very high instep and I've had Northwave shoes previously which have been ok. Currently using Diadora bought from CRC four years ago for £50 and still going strong, albeit very scruffy looking by now. Would definitely buy again as they fit me perfectly.

First bivvy and thank you

Firstly, I'd like to say thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum. Without the knowledge gained by reading posts, etc I'm not sure I would have ever gone bivvying or at least not so successfully. Anyway, I took my fourteen year old son out last night for his first night ride in The Chilterns...
