Re: Magnetic windshield for gas stoves.

What are the magets you're using?
I've been thinking of adding some magnets to a shelter instead of velcro tie backs, but weary of finding tiny ones that are strong enough..

WTS Sealskinz lightweight ankle socks medium (38-43), 65cm of 8mm CCF offcut (free)

Worn once, when I forgot my other pair and purchased some in Betws-y-Coed. I don't do enough cold wet weather hiking to need multiple pairs. £30 new. Call it £10 shipped https://i.imgur.com/KqTOlpZ.jpg _______ I cut down my OEX superlight 8, was planning to do something with the 65cm or so left over...

FS: Tarptent Double Rainbow

I used this bike touring, and it might be more than some folk here would want for a more lightweight bikepacking set up - though i strapped it to my fork, and at the weight of a water bottle that worked well. Bit sad to let this one go, it recently served me well cycling from Ireland to Morocco. But...

FS: Bathtub floor, 73g screw top stove

I'm selling off some of my backpacking stuff, these two might have some interest with bikepackers? 20d Silpoly Bathtub floor by Tipik Tentes - 195g/6.9oz €40 https://imgur.com/a/AVXbHv4 Designed for the Tipik Pioulou, which is similar dimensions to most 1p mids. The shape of the floor would work per...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

I was surprised by the weight too, but on closer inspection that’s probably all in the cup. Although maybe they made it from a sturdier plastic to make it more durable for travel? Ditch the cup + lid for your water boiling pot. Can ditch the scoop if you pre portion your coffee doses (volume is a po...

Re: Something for the coffee snobs.

As a coffee snob with a number of years working in the speciality industry im pretty sceptical about a pocket sized espresso maker. Espresso extraction is complicated to get right, there’s far more variables to control than a filter or immersion brew (this is *partially* how the industry justifies t...

Re: 100g tarp - again.

Anyway, I always liked the idea of the micro tarp bivvy combo. Interested to see where this one goes :)

Re: Morocco (again)

Aye, the terms were always slippery for me before I was even particularly interested in touring or bikepacking. Mmm indeed. I did read your report of south morocco actually. How did you go about constructing a route, what maps did you find reliable etc? For more road-riding in Europe I’ve generally ...

Re: 100g tarp - again.

Do they? I can’t see a spinnaker shelter in their website? I know they did in the past.

Re: 100g tarp - again.

I don’t like Cuben, personally, having tried it and gone back to silpoly. Not much heavier for something that will last much longer, is much easier to pitch, and packs way smaller. As you say, cost is a factor - it was also hard to justify how much I had wrapped up in a cuben tarp! But, having not b...

Why spinnaker? Haven’t seen that used since the pre DCF days!

Morocco (again)

I’m in the midst of a more conventional pavement-heavy tour from Ireland to Morocco. Obviously the name of this forum implies a bit more actual bikepacking, but a friend suggested this was a nice place with reasonable crossover. Indeed the little back reading of threads I’ve done on Morocco on here ...
