Re: Shoes recommendation

Bit of an update on my Terraduro's, unfortunately after about 6 months they've bit the dust- https://farm1.staticflickr.com/759/21005300584_4c7f204a21_n.jpg Bit miffed about this as i really like this shoe & they've been great while they've lasted. Just don't think that they're built tough enoug...

Good news, hotel booked, trip is on! I like that idea John Plan A - lakes Plan B - leeds-liverpool canal Plan C - maybe peak district or north wales (i.e. somewhere in a different direction) decide based on weather Jason - any route tips around Staveley welcome! Re: What's your best 'bodge'?

Seen some beltin bodges over the years with the group i ride with, in fact they have an award for best bodge of the year. These include a seatpost clamp round a split rear hope hub, tyre leavers as splints for a broken derailleur cage & many more. There was a cracker the other month, one of the ...

Point taken!

If you're in the center i reckon you're looking at around 1 1/2hr drive to Staveley..

Re: Bikepacking options from/near Liverpool

What area of Liverpool would you be coming from Ben? Tbh, i think you're better having a couple of options & see what the forecast is like nearer the time. There's a few different directions you can go in this part of the country & we quite often do this when approaching the weekend to get t...

Re: Bikepacking options from/near Liverpool

If you don't mind a drive of a tad over an hr from Liverpool then i'd consider the South Lakes Ben.. Staveley is a great base to ride from, could sort you out with a route(s) if interested.. Could even possibly join you if you wanted some company. If you did the MTL you could quite easily extend the...

If you like Maxxis there a few to choose from that'd do..

Imo go for one in EXO flavour, something like Crossmark rear & Ardent ('original') front would be worth trying..

There's loads in the Lakes Barney, i do it regularly with a group i'm in. Just pick your area & pull some Google Fu moves.. Hawkshead is ideal as they have both camping pods & the hostel. The camping pods have a heater & light inside, with porch area outside you could cook on if needed. ...

I know I'm probably fortunate but I do believe that, if you're worried about someone nicking your bike during the night ... you've pitched up in the wrong place. +2 But if you search 'personal alarm' on fleabay & amazon there's plenty of choice for one with either a pin-pull, that you could att...

This was an ace weekend, really enjoyed it. Even riding with a busted pedal for over 100km couldn't spoil it for me! Big thanks to Bryan (& any others, Alasdair?) for organising, was also good to put a few more faces to names off here. Been trying to get some piccies loaded for a while now but f...

Re: Lakeland 200

As Ian & Whitestone said, it's good going till you get over Walna Scar, the next section after the quarries is always wet. There's also some quite large ruts that maybe hidden by undergrowth, especially if you miss the turning to Stephenson Ground & end up heading down towards Natty Bridge. ...

Tip with the screen protector- don't take the temporary one that comes with the unit off until ready to fit to other one.
They're a bugger to fit without getting any dust underneath otherwise..

I feel your pain with the fingers Ian, did one of mine about 6 weeks ago. Thought it was dislocated at first & was a good job i never took my mate up on his offer to 'yank it back in'.. Turned out that there wasn't much keeping it attached to the rest of my hand! https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5...
