Re: Punctures and brakes
Very relevant topic  Out riding yesterday afternoon an hour before dark, on the fatbike (4.8 inch tyres, tubeless). New sealant front and back about 6 weeks ago. Back tyre started going down... Got my mini pump out and connector (sometimes it needs the connector, don’t ask me why, I’ve no idea...

Re: Cold weather tips
Hiya Stu I was doing a solo HT like I do =)) You will have read of the exploits of others on the HT in 2015, but I was a few days before them. Going up Glen Golly was very probably storm conditions. I’d turned left just before Gobernuisdach Lodge at 8:45am, and reached the top at Bealach Horn at 2pm...

Very detailed, very thorough Bob, thank you. It brought to mind something else, especially if you mainly go solo like me (I’m too old to have any of my mates coming along with me  ).... Hypothermia We get a lot of Atlantic depressions, not fiercely cold but wet and very windy... About 3 or ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.
Set off yesterday at 12:30pm, on the fatbike. There's so much mud and damp about I've been riding it recently. My objective was to camp on top of Cowpe Lowe, which is where I can join the MTL (Mary Towneley Loop) if i'm doing it from home. It is fairly tough riding, just under 16 miles and 2500 feet...

Enjoyed that Donald... I did the 220 a few years back and remember the interminable forests, which did my head in a bit... Not much endless forest in your film. Did you speed the film up ? A lot of the shots it looks like you’re going so fast you could be in a car or flying low in a hand glider :rol...

Re: Handlebar Harness
Hi Woodsmith Nice work, well done. I’ve been using a Wildcat bar harness, and sometimes it does its job (not catching the front mudguard when the suspension dips), and other times it does NOT, and I can’t quite fathom what causes it to drop. I’ve studied the way the straps are, underneath the front ...

Hiya Shaf The rucksack is a Montane Cuben Fibre 38litre, very light at 811 g, and it contains a lightweight mat as well. It is very expensive, had mine a couple of years, it cost £225 =)) . You can get it now for £180. It is 100% waterproof, has a roll top closure, and you can put a bladder in it. h...

Flickr sorted, so here's my report... Was looking forward to the Pensioners' outing, it saves the effort of making yourself get out of the comfort zone, always a bit difficult. As the ‘epitaph’ on my emails stays: “It seems to scatter the snow, the storm that in the garden makes the flowers fall... No ! What fades and passes is myself...” So we must understand how precious these moments are... We are all going down the same route, some realise that a lot more than others.....

If you are on a footpath (pushing a bike) because it links to a BW, or to a road, then the bike IS a reasonable accompaniment....

My LBS had totally sold all of their showroom stock of bikes, building up a bit now... They reckon it was due to the lockdown and people’s habits changing, so a massive demand for bikes. This had a knock on effect on second hand bikes too.... a huge demand. So Gairy advertise it as high as you think...
