Re: What you done t' your bike today

What's the axle on the front wheel, and how nicely does it play with the through axle dropouts?

Nice. Your mention of them prompted me to look them up again. I was both delighted and slightly surprised to find them on Spotify.

Re: Anyone looking for a Columbia Outdry?

I too am M/L for most brands.
I find the M close but not too snug, a little short in the body, and definitely too short in the arms.
I suspect I'd find the L a bit loose fit for cycling.

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.

I reckon that a trip is a trip, and it will always cover two calendar days (00:00h being the tipping point). I also reckon that if these two days fall into different calendar months, it's up to the bivvier which month they claim for. I also also reckon that "Like A Ghost" Imperial Battenbu...

On the upside, you can start BAM any month you like, so 2020 isn't a complete washout.
And just because you can't do beerpacking, doesn't mean you can't do beer.

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.

First bivvy of the year for me last night. Frankly, I had a shitter of a day at work, and then the forecast took a turn for the worst, so I'm slightly surprised I made it out. Boring road climbs were tackled in a mood of grim determination, and closer bivvy spots were spurned in favour of somewhere ...

Fitted some Kyoti bars, and rode to the beer shop via the park. The bike feels like a massive BMX.

Re: Dales Divide 2020 .. who's going?

I suspected as much, and fail to see the problem. It's a personal challenge, it's trails and roads open to anyone, you're unlikely to "game" anyone who's looking to set a fast time, your presence out there might be a sociable benefit for others riding...?

Another thought on the helmet mounted light front, it allows you to illuminate where you look, rather than where your bars are pointing. I've previously found myself being slightly over enthusiastic into corners with bar mounted lights, and realising that where I wanted to be wasn't illuminated in t...

Depends. Do you want to ride it to measure yourself against others, or as something just for you?

I can't fit my front light to the handle bars with the harness on, do most folks run it on their helmet?
I run my "see by" light on my helmet (Exposure Joystick), and have a "be seen" light (Moon Nebula style LED) on a fork leg.

Re: Sonder Camino Al - 700c or 650B?

I've ridden 700x42 and 650x47 on my Escapade, and 650x47 on a Diverge. There's a bit more cushioning and off-road grip with the 650s, but for me I find the resultant BB drop too much, with a significant increase in pedal strikes. I also sometimes get odd moments on the Escapade with 650s where the s...

I think this is the closest I've got:
Day 1 in numbers: 105km, 14 pints, 3 hangovers, 1 Kingfisher, 1 woodpecker (Greater Spotted), 1 pork pie, 3 hip flasks.

Day 2 in numbers: 93km, 18 pints, 8 rashers of bacon, 12 eggs, 2 snow storms, 4 tired and happy riders.

Cotic list all their frame geometries based on a certain fork length with a stated amount of sag, so you can work out the a-c measurement and compare that to the rigid fork(s) of your choice. Their newsletters seem pretty good at letting folk know about shipping times etc. Normally they'll get a sma...
