Re: hike-a-(loaded)bike

On steep grassy slopes when the calves are burning there is "the drag of despair" to use different muscles: one hand on handlebar, one hand on saddle and start stumbling backwards.

Re: Hebridean Way

My sister walked 2/3rds last year. She said the boggy and peaty sections are swamps after medium/heavy rain, it might be possible to escape to the beaches with a fat bike if the tide is out.

Re: Changing pads whilst out

I have two sets of pads, the springy holder thing and split pins wrapped up in paper and masking tape to keep them uncontaminated in my repairs bag. I always have a Leatherman Skeletool for a bunch of things: valves, chains, maintaining table manners while eating pork pies, etc, I don't have any dis...

Please bear in mind I'm a fucking idiot when it comes to sparks  I have LED tube lighting, had to replace the wiring as it was corroded but I think it should...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Some of the chairs pack down smaller than a one person tent, I have seen people who marshall events who have them as they fit inside small rucksacks. The table is stupid however.

Re: Highland Trail 550 - 2020

I have been doing some map sleuthing (nothing else to do so I am trying to trick my head into imagining that I am riding hills) and I have found that a Stores/Tea Room opened in October at Rosehall/Invercassley just after Oykel Bridge. Hope they can survive the virus.

Re: Highland Trail 550 - 2020

I passed by last September on the way to Inverness, I seem to remember there being a crack on the inside wall by the window (I assume this is why there were glass panes missing)

Re: OS mapping for garmin

Out of date OS Discoverer Premium microSD cards can be found on eBay for about £40, if you don't mind new bypasses and housing developments appearing out of nowhere.

Re: Trans Cambrian Way?

I did this on Saturday 14 March: https://www.strava.com/activities/3186204099 . Ground was very wet after the wettest February on record which made rather going tough. Even some of the gravel roads were like tyre sucking sand! Other things to note included very slippery moss covered tarmac back roa...
