Re: Tent advice - Lunar Solo

Fresh from the workshop. Lifter poles for Lunar or similar. 50 cm long + tips, 28g each and 28cm long when folded. I'll work a price out and get them added to the shop for anyone interested. I'll list them individually rather than a pair as some folk may only want the one. https://2.bp.blogspot.com...

Re: "trail centre" vocabulary

On the first WRT LHC I rode with Reg, I clearly recall, Reg, Pickers, Scott of the Woods, and me, I confess, repeatedly using the phrase "that was RAD man" after one particularly 'gnarly' section of singletrack.

enjoy it Reg. Channel that inner gnar!

I've a similar but deeper looking mark on my C17, in a similar position on the saddle's nose, and it's had at least a year's use, if not more, since being like that with no issues.

Re: Sram eagle on dropbars

I like 'em too - although none of my remaining bikes currently have drop bars on! I used to run them on nitto moustache bars on the tandem that's just sold - lovely! Some people complain about having to take your hand of the bars and move it to the end of the bar to change gear, but to my mind, that...

I may have just reserved myself an ex demo e-mtb

So... inspired by Pickers' enjoyment of his new e-mtb we had a family hiring e-mtbs day in the New Forest just before Christmas for my 50th. I was worried thst they'd remove the sense of achievement but boy was I wrong. By being pedal assist and not just purely electric it still felt 'proper' :-bd A...

@ Stu , have you ever thought about doing a pair of carbon poles just for the 2 lifters on the solo ? ... id buy a pair . No but I could. I imagine 50cm would be long enough to provide support for the line. Funnily enough I've been planning to email and ask to buy a pair of short poles for the lift...

indeed! :-bd As someone who's always had really crap lung capacity, when we hired e-mtbs for my 50th birthday last month it was a revelation - going up a very steep hill at 25kph whilst having a not-out-of-breath conversation. Winter event entry available

Due to circumstances at work conspiring against me, I can't make the winter event, so (as per the other thread) my entry is available.

I'd like who ever has it, to pay the entry fee to the BearBones coffers please.

let me know if you want it, and if that's agreeable to you.

thanks all,
Nick

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

With all this discussion of the rules I'm claiming Dec's ride with Tim and his car as a BaM (ish). About 35 miles ridden (grovelled) prior to resorting to the car and only then so that we'd get to the only pub locally with any room to eat before they gave awaay our reservation!! So that's: Jan- Jun ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

As Pickers wrote above, a top couple of half-days of riding, bivvying, talking rubbish and eating! Pickers had planned an excellent and varied route. Even the flat bits were a challenge due to the slime and gloop, even on the fattie. I'll confess I really grovelled the last few miles. I was also imp...

Re: Any diff? Temp rating on women's and men's sleeping bags

Thanks both, most useful. Whilst riding the the ridgeway last Dec with Pickers it was about -1 or -2 overnight - cold enough to have to chip the frozen mud off the bike in the morning. In my women's bag with a +1 or +2 rating I was just warm enough with thermal top and longs, a thick down jacket and...
