Saddle design

Had to do a double take, when I saw one of these go past me when walking. Looks weird, but somehow intrigued at to whether they are any good.
Anyone use one?

Re: How much grief can I expect?

My mate has had one for years, issues so far
- drive shafts wear due to no grease from factory. Replaced and greased on rebuild. No further issues
- every 3years new EGR

Think thats about it, otherwise pretty hassle free for him

Re: Find yourself a Fogou.

Kipped in the shelterstone in the Cairngorms a few times. Always felt claustraphobic when inside.
Summer was ok, winter was sheltered but it was more like a freezer than a cosy bothy.
After that I always made the extra effort to get in and out in one day from the Hutchison or Corrie Cas

Re: Anyone ride exclusively singlespeed?

I’m a bit like you (with a few bikes)

- built the SS this year and have really enjoyed riding it. Got me fitter too.
- geared hardtail
- FS bouncy

I enjoy all 3 and love the variety :-bd

Re: Anyone use a foam mat instead of a air one

I used to when climbing/walking prettyindestructable, but it’s the bulk that puts me off on the bike.
I do have a bit of Karrimat cut to the righ5 size for a rucksac, for use as back padding/sit mat

Met Alan G on the ridgeway, I recognised him by chance. I was spanked after all day in the saddle and he was fresh as a daisy and just cycling home.
We had a good laugh about the crop circle disinformation van we saw

Degreaser

Wanting to buy some degreaser. Seen some expensive stuff in Bike shops (1 litre) and less expensive in motor factors (5litre tubs)
Are all degreasers essentially the same thing?
Don’t mind buying a big tub.

So first post on this thread …. Was 99 kg after Christmas and couldn’t fasten work trousers  Didn’t weigh myself at all in between. Went on Keto diet (and still am, although not so strict) weighed by doctors earlier in the wk at 85kg. Not found it too hard as all that protein and fat you cons...

Safety specs. If you look for indoors/outdoors lenses they are a good balance at letting you see when in shadows (like under trees) and full sunlight.
Being safety specs they don’t break the bank :-bd

I had a combination cable lock until forgot about it and cycled off - the lock just broke.
I now use of of these, in bright yellow so it reminds me I’ve locked it

Re: The post man's been ...

Well not today but yesterday mr postie dropped off a box with a tyre, some grips, and a new bottom bracket.
The bottom bracket is another Hope SS, after neglecting to do anything to the old one for the last 3 years. I must learn how to replace just the bearings as probably a cheaper way of doing it

Re: The Tour Divide 2023 thread

I think the MH flag is Mike's record time applied to the new route, right? it's a dot moving at 14.5 day pace on the current route rather than where Mike actually was on his ride (sorry if that's already been covered - just thought it's relevant for comparisons). I’m not sure it is - the MH flag st...

I read an article in which Mike has said that his schedule hit some important milestones in terms of resupply and parts of the route at key times.
I guess we will just have to see how that plays out with the leaders ahead of his schedule
