Hopefully/God Willing car back on the road in the next few days. Interesting journey. Bike ride this aft maybe to celebrate in advance.

NB. Let me know if you want pics of the pawls/innards. All looks good. Freehub looks a bit bitten but my cassette came right off without issues- so the orientation in which I'd tightened it on obviously worked.

Re: WTD: 27.5 boost rear wheel

Here we go Faustus. If you like what you see and are interested (sorry, it's the carbon HALO rim up back and the Kinlin front). Without tyres or tubeless valve (sorry) then it's yours for the price of a welded bolt (on a sheared siezed one via a mobile welder). You pay postage and to make things mor...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

£100 an hour for skilled labour We live in very different worlds if you think £100 an hour is a reasonable hourly wage for any human being to earn. ( shaf is a nurse and is nowhere near that for example nor is a teacher etc or indeed almost anyone working. That is not a wage. It's an hourly rate fo...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

What size is the actual bolt Shaf? I recall you said 19mm head which usually equates to an M12? No. Had it double checked by the Mini Restoration guy who was trying to find me a suitable tap. Definitely a 14mm with a 19mm head. It's off a Lexus LS430 which (the predecessor LS400 was about 10 years ...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

9mm you say Wotsits. I'm already too far gone beyond that now. The 9.5mm grinder is now a loose fit in there and mot got the calipers (measuring) in there but I'd say I'm at about 11mm hole size now. Maybe shortly I'll let out a few yelps of relief - Alhamdulillah - that the threads have started fal...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

Found it (I think) https://youtu.be/i-CoFEPy9aY?si=QaqaLPMoZTy8Augm Seems like the ones on the Ridgid website don't ho up to 14mm wotsits. But I could be wrong. I'd resigned myself to needing to just contact Tracy tools and purchase the appropriate tap. At work today earning my £150 but yesterday wh...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

Thanks so much for all them links there Wotsits :-bd I'll check em over. If you do use one of those carbide files, make sure to wear some goggles as the swarf can go everywhere. Also have a search how to use them as they ideally need to be used at a high rpm. These are better than the tapered type ...

Oh dear. Sorry to hear that Phil. My first ever accident on the bike was also on my first ever mtb ride. I'd assumed I was mountain biking the years previous, but canal towpath and a few rocky trails here and there, I learnt, wasn't. Anyway, first ever mtb charity ride. Colne Valley MTB Challenge. G...

I actually ordered this from Screwfix for my Dremel (yes, it's not the first time I've had to deal with stripped bolts, but bikes are easy peasy) https://www.screwfix.com/p/dremel-952-grinding-stone-3-pack/65026 Have a search for a carbide rotary file, something like these- https://www.shop-apt.co....

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

Shaff - get a dremel (cheapo ebay copy in any case) and try to grind out as much of the bolt as you can before have a go with a tap. In fact if you are careful and very patient, you might be able to get enough out to pick the threads of the bolt out without tapping - even if you can get the first b...

Can you make a Hope Pro 2 EVO into boost tru axle. If so then I have a nice carbon (or is it black Kinlin) wide rim. On PRO EVO2 (actually, might be 4) and nice lightweight Sapim spokes. Currently on wither Shimano or DT ratchet drive freehub.

If anyone wants a used Beand X dropper but one without the remote. Then make me an offer. I'm surw to say yes. Had it on the Pinnacle 3+ but won't fit the SC. It was an upgraded remote (original ones are sub standard IMO) and hence why you only get the dropper. Perfect time to mention it for anyone ...

Re: The post man's been ...

A new (to me) phone. Kind of relevant here becasue my old phone died in the torrential rain on the winter Jennride. I would have put it in a waterproof case, but I assumed the pocket in my new Evoc bum bag specifically for a phone would be waterproof. Apparently not. (I also had to get replacements...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

Unpopular opinion but it’s probably 1.5 hours in total sunk time for the welder to get to you, set up, weld and pack away. £100 an hour for skilled labour ready immediately doesn’t seem too harsh to me. And he’s factored risk in as well. Nah. Not unpopular at all and appreciated. I did ask the Mini...

Re: Off Topic - siezed, rusted, possibly double threaded, sheared bolt extraction advice!

I'll be honest Stu. At the time I only had £150 to my name for the week. It's not that it seemed too expensive, but rather daylight robbery. I did'nt tell the chap he was taking the p, byt rather that I couldn't afford... Since then I think I've spent £21 + £8 in drill bits of which at least 80% are...
