Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Hi, I've somehow slipped out of the forum again recently, and surprisingly even during the five days I've just been travelling and spending a few days with my parents, who only seem to be vertical for a very few hours in between like ins, naptimes, and early nights, I'm only now managing to pick up ...

:-bd Liking the...blanket? scarf? A good night to be out because it's about to get colder! Glad you like it. It's a massive thick fluffy scarf which I bought on holidays in Bagneres de Luchon in the Pyrenees last February, for an impromptu snowy mountain wild camp, which was wonderful, so it carrie...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Here goes, lowering the bar as promised. Went out last night, expecting it to be absolutely bitterly cold, but it actually seemed to have warmed up a bit. No real frost on the ground, though a bit of ice on some cars as I arrived back home. Obviously went out to enjoy it, but also as I had failed to...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.
I now can't go anywhere without scoping potential bivvy spots and hopefully that will lead me into being more daring for 2024 :-bd Same here Martin  , I always have a mental list way longer than there are months.... Challenge is to think carefully about who you're with at the time, before sayi...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
A fogou for the first, a damp affair Then by the bypass, awoken by the moon In March the Duke of Buccleuch slept unaware Come April, close to home, a dry lagoon And Spring once sprung, the woods! (with coffee set) A skinny-tyred dash for the sun in June A trip across to Fife, the longest yet A cabi...

Annnnnnd off we go.... A most luxurious night toasty warm at a visitors centre on the Winter Event. Nooo-o-o-o of course not! -3c on an open-air but roofed wooden platform at a visitors centre. Re: Winter Event entries now open.
Happy to report that last night was the first one to contain stars for quite some time. It departed leaving a slightly misty and cold morning with a little frost / ice. The sky now contains some blue bits and the house smells of freshly baked cake* *but it has done for a couple of days. Yay!...

About Frankfurt area, it'll be a case of getting there in relatively short time so I'll be on road but breaking up the route with some off-road sections is always good. Thanks!
Brilliant! Compare route ideas and notes?Ride one of my bikes to my parents (near Frankfurt!)

Gosh I only thought to log on quickly and check what's occurring, before this weekend's delights...and now the dogs are crossing their legs, looking at me trying to tell me they are about to starve, and I'll be late for work!!! Some great thoughts and plans there for the year, and such a good variet...

I have a simple aspiration this year, yet maybe it's the grandest of all ... I hope to rediscover the simple pleasure of messing about on bikes with your friends. That's it, I'll be happy.

Sorry to read that Loki. Could you get out on foot with bivi kit? I've been thinking of doing a hiker bivi recently, should have added it to the list here. I wish that was the case, walking is the problem I have, being on a bike is actually easier for me, I have learned that you don't recover from ...

Sorry to read that Loki. Could you get out on foot with bivi kit? I've been thinking of doing a hiker bivi recently, should have added it to the list here. Since we all have the gear I wonder how often many of us get out on foot rather than the bike. Thanks Dyffers and Psling. Mark Rigby is someone...

Re: Happy New Year, and plans for 2024
More regular 2 night trips from my door into Wales would be good, around the Brecons and Black Mountains. Riding to Eurobike again if I can swing it as a work product test trip (it would be, honest). The new venue is in Frankfurt which isn't as nice as Friedrichshafen as a destination but the ride ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.
Tucked up and cosy in my hammock, fairy lights up, windy but dry, with a strong blonde Belgian for company ( come on, surely that's been done before?!? ), not to mention two fresh cream apple turnovers - what a way to see out what has been a very good year
