Don’t mind a freehub buzz, sometimes seems more effective than a bell for letting walkers know you are approaching

If it needs a phone service/signal to work, why wouldn’t you just use a phone instead?

Re: Tent and sleeping bag recommendations
Vango have just released a bikepacking friendly (poles pack to 30cm) and fairly light tent (trail weight of 1.49kg) With an RRP of £155, it’s pretty budget friendly too https://www.vango.co.uk/gb/camping-equipment/3065-apex-compact-100.html Not available until the end of April though The Wild countr...

I thought the big advantage was that they are one of the few rear racks that are compatible with a full suss frame.

My Dad was a commercial inshore fisherman, these look exactly like what we used for working at sea. Not much in the way of dexterity if they are the same thing.

Has anybody used the Apple SOS satellite service that come with latest iPhone 14?
I think a similar feature is also expected on the next release of Android.

Oh dear - another myth "ooh yes, you must bed your pads in before using in anger" err no (outside a race) pads bed in within a few braking opps, discs after a few rides (or one if its in the Highlands - granite plus mud will do it in about 10 yards). Why waste good pad material. You may h...

https://meatengines.com/f/shorter-cranks-us Interesting read on the pros + cons for MTB Hmm, not sure that guy has ever ridden a full suss with a low BB if he doesn’t get the benefits a shorter crank brings in terms of pedal clearance. My Scott Genius was pretty bad on natural/rutted trails with 17...

Re: Head torches?
Yep - Moon Vortex pro, can be had for £34.
I tried it against an exposure Diablo and preferred the Moon. The Diablo had better spread but the Moon was more concentrated which I prefer for a helmet light.
It's not perfect but I don't think there is a better VFM helmet light out there.

What is the faff of having suspension forks that is being referred to? The pikes on my hard tail will be 10 years old this year and can’t remember any kind issue etc Had way more faff with drivetrain, brakes, dropper posts and wheels. I’ve got a CX that I regularly take off road but the difference i...

How do pogies work in the rain - does that water not end up running down your arms and into the pogie?

How big a tear are you looking to fix?
I used these to repair a 5cm tear in my Rab down jacket about 4 years ago and still holding up fine:

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I think it's because I made the mistake of paying through paypal and that didn't clear until this morning - they've only 650b wheels left in boost. Finding a cheap option for a 7 year old bike is proving tricky (100x15 front, 135QR in the back, 650b) which is why I jumped on this offer. Their websi...

What about glueing the caliper adapter/bolt to the legs using metal adhesive? You'd always have to use the same size rotor but that wouldn't be the end of the world.

I'm planning the badger divide in May, hopefully with friends but possibly solo.
