Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.

3/3. Grabbed the chance to get out again before we leave the dusty trails behind and head back north. Aimed for a spot I'd used before up on the Col de Murs. I took the longish route around along the canal then a long steady climb up onto the plateau. Arrived just after dark to find my water bottle ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.

A trip up the hill to one of the fire watch towers looking over the Venasque forest. I'd looked at sleeping up here before but it always been a bit too windy, being so exposed. So a decent forecast saw me and my bivvy bag set off to catch the sunset. https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2950/32797954062_84...

It might be one weekend too early for me, but don't know for sure yet. The weekend after would be better, but that's just me :)

Re: SE (Chilterns) Winter Bivy - 10/11 Dec

Can I add my thanks to everyone for making this such an enjoyable weekend, especially Ben and Reg for getting us to the pub and then back to the station. Great company and some good riding despite the mud and rain. Very interesting to go home on a very busy train packed with Christmas shoppers with ...

Re: SE (Chilterns) Winter Bivy - 10/11 Dec

Do any of you train experts know how likely I am to be able to get on a London bound 8.40 train (London Midlands) on Saturday with Christmas shopping in full swing? I have visions of still being on the platform whilst you lot are sat round a campfire swigging malt.

I have the OR one. It's very warm and packs up small. Seems to do the job well enough, don't really know what the more expensive one does better.

Another Airshot here. Very pleased with it, worked a treat after wrestling with just a trackpump for a day. First time I've been beaten though!

Was thinking of driving. But can probably sort out a train (bikes on trains novice), if it makes the route planning easier/better.

Re: Kielder and Cheviots c2c.

Did this week over three days. Great route, although I think my definition of easy may be slightly different to Ray's  Kielder to Wooler was quite tough with the ground fairly boggy in places, but pleased I took the ridgeline route, not the alternative. Still can't quite believe how remote an...
