Re: Todays ride

68km out to the coast and back to Driffield today. Very moist and sticky but not too hilly which made it easier. I went to a distillery and just had a cup of tea and a cake which felt like a bit of a waste so will have to come back at some other time. No urinal cakes today either.

Re: Todays ride

Another 47km meandering through the Wolds from Pocklington to Weaverthorpe in the baking sunshine. We came across what may be the smallest cafe in the world at Fimber which was just a hatch in the adjacent loo block. The cake was good though. A few miles later we needed another break from the heat s...

Re: PSA On One Huntsman GX Eagle £899

It’s heavy and the paint chips if you just look at it funny but mine was very comfy on the WRT. I paid 900 for a SX version with the Rockshox 35 upgrade so 899 with GX and the same fork is a good deal

Re: Todays ride

A leisurely 42km on the Yorkshire Wolds in very warm weather, mostly country roads with a bridleway over the top of a hill in the middle. It felt quite a lot like a hillier version of Staffordshire, lots of rolling terrain through arable farmland. It was so warm I went in a Theakston’s pub and only ...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Finished off the bar bag and then had to hunt for a smaller metal tensioner for my bell since I'd run out of bar estate for my bell so it had to go onto the extender bar with the light. Mental note to never throw out old rubber shims because I managed to lose the old ones when moving the extender ba...

The 23% climb out of woolacombe to get back to croyde wouldn’t be fun Pretty sure we saw you coming up thatas we were driving down, did yell Boners out the car windo as we passed! I don't think it was me, I didn't end up using my bike since the kids pretty much wanted to just go to the beach.

Re: What you done t' your bike today

I naively though I'd have enough time in my lunch break to get my gravel bike ready for a 4 day predominantly road tour in the Yorkshire Wolds later in the week. Apparently I'd put the bike away without cleaning from its last use so had to give the drivetrain a good scrub and re-lube. I contemplated...

Ha, I had a CT scan 7 weeks ago, I finally find out the results on the 4th. Not sure if that’s an oblique way of telling me that it’s nothing serious. 5 months in and no concrete diagnosis. Double Ha! When I’d had my heart attack back in May 2020, they sent me to Bangor hospital for an MRI scan, (e...

It's a shame that ants aren't that great against slugs because I have two nests of those - one large one under the patio and one under the front path. I suppose it could be one nest with two entrances! I discovered them because they've excavated a load of sand out between the cracks overnight and th...

12/05/23 71.2kg
25/08/23 73.2kg

I've put on 2kg after 3 months of low exercise and summer holidays so probably time to start paying attention again.

The budget is still to be negotiated but it’s probably going to be less than 180 quid. I’ll add it to my list though, thanks

Re: Today's Run

My 4 year old Garmin forerunner 35 has died - the backlight comes on when I press the power button but there's nothing appearing on the screen. It started playing up yesterday with showing partial screens but that went away after a reset but now nothing. Garmin Express can still see it so it's proba...

Re: Today's Run

Ran over the hill to Baggy Point while the rest of the family was getting ready to go out for the day, only just over 5k but the 12% climb in parts were a good workout for a flat lander though I did walk some bits once the heart rate got into the 170s. I still got back before everyone was dressed.

I think I last did 100k in a day in 2005 or 2006 but do fancy doing an audax - just need to find a fairly flat one for my first.
