Re: And now for something completely different...

As an aside, I can't wait for Microsoft to finally kill off IE so that I don't have to support it any more.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

I'll admit I've never seen mine go below 75% but then again since I got it I've never done over 4/5 hours in one go. Mine will drop below 75% after a 1.5 hour ride Out of curiosity, do you run it with the maps on screen? I normally just have the bike computer on screen and it alerts me if a waypoin...

Re: July 1st - but

My youngest has just been sent home from school for 10 days and 4 out of the 7 year groups have been sent home this week so, yes, I'm still waiting for normality to resume, though I'm not convinced it will for a while yet.

Re: Which waterproof socks?

I've used SealSkinz knee highs with 3/4 shorts for 5 years or so now in winter and on bikepacking / touring trips - they need replacing because they leak a bit around the toes but not sure if that's age or because the ended up in the tumble dryer once by mistake - and I'll probably replace like with...

I think it'd do a fair amount of harm to those people culled

BrewDog were in the news today due to a overegged marketing wheeze where they promised a chance of a solid gold can worth 15k to be found in a slab whereas the can is actually brass with 3 micrometer thick gold plate worth a trifling fraction of that.

There’s a 500+ km transition from the Saturday stage to the finale in Paris so I’m guessing that he’s going to have to be way ahead of the cyclists for most of the attempt.

Having issues with the last kilo or so of planned weight loss, probably not helped by not having lots of time for riding and my ankle not really being up to running yet

At the risk of outing him, Landslide has one. I'm thinking of either the new ortlieb or the new restrap bag for the gravel bike. The restrap bag is quite a bit cheaper, albeit not cheap.

Entire length of Britain over ten years? I hesitate to mock but that's, er, what, average 90 miles a year, erm, quarter of a mile a day? :???: . I suppose for a person from a country where folks drive 100 yards to the shop that's not bad  . 90 miles over two weeks in that year isn’t bad though…

Re: Simplifying the garage. What shall I keep?

I need to make room as well but my main problem is that the two bikes to logically go are also the ones that would raise the least amount of money towards a new frame so the time investment in getting them ready to sell looks less attractive, so they continue to sit in the garage.

I have noticed the calorie numbers are significantly different depending on whether or not I'm using a HR monitor. They are always much higher if I am, but don't know if that's because the HR monitor is wildly inaccurate or because strava makes some inaccurate assumptions about me. Then again Strava...

It felt really good to get out again and stretch the legs Thanks all.

Reg, BDS did take a single picture as we were on the way back to mine so he may post it. My phone only came out of my pocket twice on the trip, it was great.

In my case it'll depend on the weather - if its like today, i'll just pack my lightweight bivvy which takes up 1/4 of the space of my tent so there'll be plenty of room for my stove.

Birches is shorthand for Birches Valley Visitor’s Centre WS15 2UQ. That isn’t a good spot to leave the car overnight though and they charge 8 quid a day parking but happens to be the spot we met up last time.
