Re: Charlie's Dorset Gravel Dash - suitable for a first time
Have done the 50/50 a couple of times. Its great. If not been to Purbecks, then worth it for that as a very pretty area with lots to look at. Route follows the coast for a bit which is stunning. Riding isnt technical at all, apart from a couple of places. Takes in most of the classic Purbecks trails...

Re: Drop bars on a 29inch hard tail mountain bike ....daft i
Yeah sorry Padonbike, apparent wind is a sailing term, describes the actual wind in real terms, relative to a moving object. So for a 15kmh wind riding into it at 5kmh the "real" apparent wind is 20kmh, which is the point where you say a more tucked position is beneficial. Sorry, havent th...

Re: Drop bars on a 29inch hard tail mountain bike ....daft i
The unpopular answer is: Aerodynamics don't come into play until an object is moving forward at a speed above 20kph. Drop bars were designed to go on road racing cycles to provide more hand positions that flat bars and, more importantly, improve aerodynamics. How many times on a true off-road ride ...

Id just look for some cheap TRP Spyres instead. Miles better calliper (once stock pads are replaced).

Re: Surly Midnight Special
Kind of grabbing the space left by the Fargo when it went 29 plus. Like all Surly stuff now, way too long and low for me. Id be looking at the Fairlight Faran for that kind of bike!

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Agreed. Good bikes but silly prices. I have a Fargo and its great at what it does, but way over priced at nearly £1k now. And the Ti is £2.4k (and only a 5 year warranty)!!
(Edit; just checked my 2015 Fargo was £630 2 years ago, and ok carbon forks, alternators etc etc, I thought that was a lot then!)

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Funny isnt it. The Raleigh guys I met last year where massively enthusiastic about the brand.
Worth noting that the same thing happened when ISON were distributing Salsa about 5 years ago. Sudden decision to stop doing the brand and massive dumping of stock at silly prices

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Presumably, with Triton doing something similar Raleigh are throwing Salsa under the bus after doing very little with the brand since they've imported them? Not sure it is Raliegh throwing them under the bus. Any backstory on that please johnnystorm? i genuinely dont know what has happened t...

I do the opposite to htrider. I put them in the freezer overnight, then put them in a cup bearing side down. Poor boiling water on. If the bearing isnt left behind when i pick it out of the cup i tap it a couple times and it drops out
