Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread

What you're going to read next is perhaps something that may only apply to a small % of people but I know it does apply to others besides me and can really help to reduce what you're carrying .... there are some people who take a certain pleasure in the act of 'enduring'. I'm not talking about suff...

Re: Packed bike weighIn Thread

Something often overlooked on this subject is tyre weight. I run Nanos or Nine Lines at max 2.1" around the time of WRT, so I'm easily going to save 100-500g or more just in rubber alone over say a 2.3" or wider, or even a more robust 2.1 or 2.2". The trade off with less rubber being...

Not sure I can add much to the above comments. The design, quality, and service you provided was top-of-the-tree and will be missed. I’ve ordered a cheetah too as it’s the only item missing from my collection and I always meant to try one. Two out of my three frame bags are Beth-made and have been t...

When the light is off press and hold the ‘on’ button until the main light flashes rapidly several times. At that point the ‘status’ led on the back will being to flash slowly. The number of flashes is the mode it will end up in. Release the button when it’s in the right mode. The status light will r...

Some good recommendations here but I’d be happy with any of Alpkit’s offerings.

Decent performance, good price and they stand by their products for after sales or warranty issues.

I’ve done some sessions with experience cic in holmfirth. They specialise in hand bikes but are likely to know about other options for differently abled folks.

Worth a google, or I can dig out an email address. Craig is the guy to speak to. Or Laura.

Re: SPOT Tracker Renewal Fees - Being Gouged?

I’ve just swapped to a Garmin inreach mini.

Mainly due to restarting to sail and planning coastal and sea trips with the kids. It’s a very well put together item, very impressive. It does a lot of things too. Monthly subs too which was the clincher

It’s also on my list of places to find and stay at. I’ve got some ideas about the location but no clear directions as yet.

Looking forwards to a wee search at some point.

Ti frying pans aren't very good. Their heat conduction is poor so you get hotspots. It's fine for certain things, but Ti is really best at boiling water and low heat cooking. My Ti frying pan is part of a Snowpeak 1400 set (also had the big evernew one) and it's rarely used as anything other than a...

Re: Down tube bag/cage options sans bosses

I’ve used the older version of these - https://www.evanscycles.com/elite-vip-b ... s-EV242878 to mount a bottle cage lower than my bosses would allow.

They have coped with ~20,000km+ of off-road riding without any drama.

I’ve heard it’s possible to download blank versions of these from the interweb and complete then yourself.

I’m sure this isn’t a good idea though and obviously wouldn’t recommend it :ugeek:

Mine seems to be all entirely different colours. Bright yellow, green, red, black. I’m not bothered about matchy-matchy but understand that some people are.

The last frame bag I had made is silver grey but the others are black.

11 speed Shimano fit Mtb cassette

For the spare-parts-bike-build-for-a-friend.

Does anyone have any wide range Shimano fit cassette in 11 speed variety?

Anything from new to well used is good. I’ve got chains to fit all options there.
