Re: What are you reading now?

Just finished Two Degrees West by Nick Crane. A great journey, with great research, and excellent writing. Thanks to folk on here who kept mentioning him so I got round to buying more of his books.

Got Dave's OCCD on the go as well, and just started Mountain Days and Bothy Nights.

Had a cider a bit ago while I was out in the garden, because it's summer: there, I said it :o Dangerous stuff.

Can of Jaipur now, which I bought for guests, but, as usually happens, am drinking myself. Maybe it's because I haven't asked anyone round? Ah well, seems to be working well for me

Some bikepackers asked for a middle-aged shout out on BBC Radio 6, anyone from here? Bit young for the demographic on here  Oi! I'm listening as I write! Was it the guy meeting his friend now they can cross the English-Welsh border? I heard cycling mentioned, but not bikepacking.

It's ok, it's only my wetsuit.

Next door have theirs out but I reckon it should be fine for the 5 minutes it takes to make a coffee.

Early surf this morning with a mate, then sat in the sun with a coffee and bacon and black pudding sandwich after warming up. Finally finished the oak toy box I've been making for my niece - will post some photos in the lockdown projects thread soon. Now sat in the garden making coffee on my little ...

Great idea, and very much agree with the ethos (despite being on the look out for a shiny new bike at the moment, but we'll leave that out of it  ). My "pub" bike definitely qualifies as a clunker. Not sure I have the time/skills/contacts to organise something at short notice, but wi...

When I was a kid Pete and had been sent home from school yet again, my old man took me to one side and said, "you won't beat the system by trying to f*ck it head on. You'll only beat it by learning how to play the game" Brilliant. At risk of derailing the discussion again, worth co...

Re: 24/04/21 everybody welcome here mass trespass

Thanks Stu, we seem to be of the same mind on this. I tried to make this clear in my original reply, but it seems from some of the subsequent replies that perhaps I didn't: I support the aims of Extinction Rebellion - I've even been on a couple of their protests. Disruption of the status quo is an e...

Re: 24/04/21 everybody welcome here mass trespass

It pains me to say it, but while I can see the overlap between the Extinction Rebellion cause and Right to Roam, I can't help but feel than adding XR branding is counter-productive to what otherwise seems like a valuable protest. I support what XR do, and mostly the way they do it, but protest is al...

Interesting, thanks for sharing. When I'm at home my meals are pretty healthy but admit I have a tendency to eat crap in reasonable quantities as well. When I'm doing multi-day rides I tend to cram the high energy stuff in too, but thing is, it only takes me 24-48 hours before I crave something fres...
