Re: Hope free hubs
Here's mine from a couple of weeks back http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/Sean_iow/DSC_6623-1024x576_zpsmkhimfhi.jpg And these were the remains of the pawls http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/Sean_iow/DSC_6625-1024x576_zpsux1nti7l.jpg It's just once the mud gets past the seal. Re: The Ridgeway - a better walk than a ride?
One thing I've noticed when looking at the mapping is there appears to be different routes for walkers and riders in places, obviously there are sections which are footpath so the riding route uses the roads to avoid these, so there is likely less walking on roads than riding on roads. To say you've...

Re: The Ridgeway - a better walk than a ride?
Just to conform, is this 'The Ridgeway' as in between Overton Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon? There seems to be other 'ridgeways' like The Wessex Ridgeway but they get abbreviated so I get confused which were talking about :???: I'm hoping to ride 'The Ridgeway' at Easter so I can report back if you're pl...

Re: New Cat Cut Tarp
Is your tarp closed at the foot end Sean or are you relying on a bivy bag there? I now have that option  I had an off-cut just large enough to make a clip in end panel. It's not an exact fit but that should let some air through to help keep condensation down on the underside of the tarp. It ...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
That second tandem card. I can make out the letters T, W and O. Maybe that's the "hidden meaning"? It could be, although I see O W O or maybe O V V O, upside down it's OMO? Like I said, it was wasted on me - the hidden meaning that is not the card. Perhaps because I know what a bike frame...

I'm sure most of you will have seen the images created when an artist asked people to draw a bike from memory and he then produced images of the results, if not these are worth a look https://mpora.com/road-cycling/artist-asks-strangers-draw-bicycle-memory-3d-renders-results#2ihLu5YvkAQ2uO4V.97 At t...

Re: bum bags
I've got the Lowe Alpine one and I like it. It's got a zip compartment on the outside for wallet/keys and also a separate zipped section inside. I use that to store my paper back-up map printouts, it's out of the way but also flat so they don't get creased. It's not completely waterproof but I doesn...

I don't think a wobbly hub could overcharge the light. I was thinking about this just the other day and came to the conclusion that if the hub could produce more power they'd make it like that in the first place. As Dave said, check the wiring first, I've had flickering with mine before due to a dam...

An 34T Absolute Black oval chainring. Tip for singlespeeders, the 34T from CRC is £5.50 cheaper than the 32T. So I run a 34/17 instead of a 32/16 as it's the same ratio but cheaper

Maybe I've slipped under the radar? I'll keep my head down whilst it still works. I've been expecting it to stop since the problems began for others but it just keeps working.

Is my picture above showing? The bike at the side of a snowy track. It's from photbucket and I don't pay anything. I just clicked on the IMG button in the share options to get this code [1mg]http://i1164.photobucket.com/albums/q569/Sean_iow/DSC_6655_zpsybxxex0a.jpg[/1mg] I've had to put a ? in the h...

Re: Photos direct from Google Pics
As per the OP's problem Photobucket changed their rules about linking from third party sites, i.e. like here, unless you pay a subscription. There's lots of old threads on various forums with Photobucket's standard "no linking" error image. That's the bit I don't understand as I don't pay...

Me neither Colin - I thought Sean was showing that the snow had returned and engulfed all in its path  I won't say I wish it was back as apart from playing on the bike the snow can be a pain, especially when it's as bad as your driveway picture showed. Just before the pic was taken (the one y...

Ah, that's not much of a success then  I can see both of the images so it's not that I can see mine just because it is mine then. It looks like it's still photobucket for me, which weirdly still works despite other people having issues. It's just more work as I have to download the pic from goo...

I vary the gloves I'm wearing according to the forecast/conditions but still end up with cold hands sometimes. Re: Another Dynamo hubs query
I was thinking about bearings and dyno hubs whist riding... so I gathered up all the old bearings in my workshop and the shed I could find I'd changed. For some reason they just get left about 'just in case' I need them. Quite how bad the bearings on the bike would need to be to ever consider refitt...

It's all just about melted here now so it will be back to mud and water on the trails again that does mean I should be able to resist buying a fat bike now so my wallet will be pleased... not that I have the money for a new bike but when has that ever stopped anyone

If you're after something Alpkit 3.5 size then this is an alternative http://www.terra-nova.co.uk/tarps-bivis-bothies/all-tarps/adventure-tarp-1/?c=18286 I've not got one but I have one of their tents so would expect it to be well made. We've had the same thing here, with a layer of ice over the snow. I've driven to work today (Land Rover owner) so I could then give the wife a lift in (works for the NHS but in research) but they are now finishing at 12:00 as only one other made it in  I would head out for a ride but I think t...

Re: Tarp recommendations
You can`t really go wrong with Alpkit tarps for price or quality. The Alpkit stuff is well made and as has been said it's good value. You could always sell your DD 3x3 to recoup some money back if you're going to switch over to the lighter tarp. Although I still have all the tarps I've bought and m...

Re: That white stuff out there...
We've had more snow this afternoon so there was actually enough for the ride home to be a propper ride on the white stuff. First time I've ridden on snow and really enjoyed it  so, does anyone make a fat bike frame with sliding/adjustable dropouts for singlespeed and how hilly is the Rovaniemi...
