Re: Todays ride

Dark Peak 100 audax yesterday. Started off "sub standard, where's my sunscreen" and quickly became "sub standard, where's my lightning conductor/i wish this jacket was more waterproof/why didn't i pack gloves and a puffy vest". Started off nice. There's a #chillestrideever couch ...

These the right thing, if not the wrong way up? Came on a Pro4 front hub. DM your address and I'll pop them in the post if so.

Re: Shimano SLX pads?

Shimano publish all this info. Find the model number on your calipers and take a look in the expandy list or the dealers manual.

If they are m7100 calipers then pad options are listed here: https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/ ... M7100.html

Not sure I've understood but I'm getting ~35mm. Cleat interface is perpendicular to the stem mount in the photo.

Looks pretty cool. Easy enough to mute the narration. Props to the guy for (I assume) just throwing a bunch of stuff he had in a rucksack and getting on with it. Would have been easy to spend days/dollars on lighter kit and never actually make it out for the sunrise.

Re: Gleneagles Gravel (bandwagon?)

What mark does it miss? Fancy hotel offers nicer-than-usual hire bikes and has had local rider involved in planning routes for pleasant car-free riding experience. If I ended up in a hotel like that, I probably wouldn't say no to that. It's a little like Curve's fastpacking weekends in Aus, they tak...

Re: Bespoke frame - anyone done it?

Looked at Stayer? Their OG+ might be up your street https://www.stayercycles.com/ogplus-batch. Made to your size, but they've already figured out the details, tubing and such. That said, I don't think these rigid MTB/gravel blends are ever really a good idea. Build a rowdy big tyre monstercross bike...

Re: Soooooo far OT - non / low alcohol beers

I've mostly switched to low/no alcohol beers. For your "craft" replacements Mikkeller probably the best of the lot, especially their Weird Weather, bit pricey though. Tiny Rebel's AF Clwb Tropicana and Lervig No Worries grapefruit are drinkable, as is Vandestreek Playground. The regular no...

Re: Tyre speed ratings?

From Schwalbe: For speed e-bikes you need a special approval for the tyre equipment. Tires with ECE-R75 authorization valid throughout the European Union are the simplest solution in this case. All of our Energizer tires have the mark of conformity and are approved for vehicles up to 50 km/h. Assume...

Interesting, do they take anything? As in, can I just take a big box of parts to them and let them sift through what they want? I have cranks, seatposts, mechs (some incomplete), old cassettes and chains, the odd brake lever and caliper without hoses etc etc. a wheel, tyres.... I could go on :-) ta...

If you're not set on carbon and anywhere near Manchester I've got a 56cm Surly Pacer frameset I could do with moving on. Can't remember the year but it's "disco tomato" so there's decent clearance for 32c+guards with long drop brakes. Will also make a good 650b rando conversion if you're t...

Re: Simplifying the garage. What shall I keep?

On a more serious note (although I wouldn't mind a large El Mar...), I had a big clear out before we went away, got things down to one bike and an assortment of bling/useful bits. It was a rushed, stressful process and I'd hoped to avoid ending up in the same situation. But after some covid/unmotiva...

Re: Whats the pick of the 29er rims at the moment?

Pretty sure Halo Vapour 35 is a rebranded version of the TL-29. I had a set of the Halos, admittedly in 27.5, but they rode well on my singlespeed and took a 2.4 tyre nicely. Velocity Blunt SS and 35 have also been good for me. The SS are a nice balance of weight (425g in 29), width (26.6mm internal...
