Re: Cycle show disappointment
And considering how popular alpkit and wildcat are among us, and ofcourse relevate being one of the original names, how come all these shows and displays show bikes decked in Apidura kit? Seems to be the only company with a budget for commercial advertising and publicity Distribution through Ison p...

Re: Peak 200 ITT. Anyone got a strava link?
It sounds like the bit near Wye/Chee Dale. I got confused there too (my GPX track doesn't help in that section at all...). I don't think it'd be possible to get a better GPX, it's better off just telling people to go over the bridge and up the hill... saying that you can quite easily miss the ramp u...

Re: Bar harness on rigid forks
I suppose it depends how you distribute kit around the bike, I quite like using my Sweetroll with clothes at one end and food at the other, makes it quick to add/remove layers or snacks... Sleeping kit goes in the saddlebag and only opened/closed once a day...

PHD bargain box has had a bunch of stuff added. They've also released their Autumn Race collection - couple of bags and a jacket this time around.

Quick rummage and I'm beginning to think I've lent them out... Will see if I can track them down but not hugely confident...

Anyone care to comment on how sizing on Rimes compare with Shimano MTB shoes, my XC50Ns have been good but not on their way out - thinking something with a more hike-a-bikey sole might be nice...

When do we get the route again? Week before?
Have fitted some gears. Riding has been patchy. Looks like September will be mainly road-riding :/

Re: 80/20 Road/EasyTrail Tyres
Been running Panaracer Pasela (PT or TG?) for a while now. They're quite light, supple sidewalls and the wired version is fairly cheap. 40g weight saving with folding didn't seem worth the money. Made it round the Mary Towneley Loop on them on a very dry day in one piece (couple of hairy moments...)...

Re: North Coast 500
^ interesting, thanks for the head up The main issue at the moment is the journey time there/back and having stuff booked on the Sunday/Friday that limit when I can leave/need to be back. The price difference between trains isn't great either - can do the trip for £60 if I rush the riding into 3 day...

Considered something similar but always end up going back to either Opinel or a SAK with alox scales. The latter being surprisingly thin, holds a decent edge and legal to carry/not intimidating, most importantly - it opens beer too... http://www.heinnie.com/victorinox-cadet-silver-alox

I've got a 3/4 Venture but don't have anything much to contribute about it as (due to a total cock up on my part...) I punctured it on the first night then put off repairing it for well over a year

On a related note... who's making decent merino boxers these days? Chocolate Fish used to do them but seem to have ceased trading... Howies have gone 'Modal cotton' or something...jameso wrote:Merino boxers are easier to pack a spare, comfier, faster to wash / cleaner ime and just feel more, well, normal.
