Re: If we close up for a bit...

Stu: "Policy of stealth" - I'm suddenly feeling quite the opposite now - I want to jump up and down like Michael Palin's peasant in Holy Grail: "help, help, I'm being repressed!". "I've just bivvied and it's my right as one of the great downtrodden unwashed masses!". ht...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Might the act of doing so contribute to others making bad decisions about how they interpret the guidance? Possibly. But not if no one sees you. are you really suggesting this entire debate is not affecting anyone and no one is seeing it ? - as far as i can some want i collectve permision to do it ...

I'm a Flickr user but keep it to <1000 images so it's free. Or have I missed something?

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Yeah good point  . Ah, no, hang on. Even if I bivvied but didn't write it up, I'd still be thinking I could have written it up, so I'd still feel guilty and wished I hadn't done it. Heeeelllppppp... this is all too much for a Tuesday morning, should've saved it for Headspinning Cheery Friday....

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Hmm, I'm going to qualify my previous ravings. Having tried to claim that there's now less of a problem with the 'setting an example' angle, that's only true if we're not trying to 'see how much we can get away with within the apparent rules'. Which I partly am of course, even if it's only at this d...

Sean/Karl - you both made me laugh out loud there, which is priceless at the moment. I thank you for that  .

Re: If we close up for a bit...

For me it's still about risk of additional stress on the health system. [edit: CharlieC said similar things while I was typing the following. I'm trying to work through the detailed logic of justification though  ] Now we're allowed 'unlimited' exercise that surely covers the 'biking' part o...

Re: bottle cage

Incidentally I'm perfectly well aware that my thread may be viewed as a piss-take of a remarkably similar, but entirely more professional and considerably more skilled, one not a million miles away. That might be so if it wasn't for the fact that mine appeared a full 21 hours before the other one. F...

Re: bottle cage

I can make the highly complex blueprints available for a small fee  .

All you need is:
2 cableties, coloured to your taste
1 roll of gaffertape (*), coloured to your taste
1 pair of scissors

Construction time: 5 minutes

(*) other sticky tapes are available.

Re: bottle cage

As we know, pretty much anything can be repaired or made from just cableties and gaffertape. This combines the two in a functional yet aesthetically-pleasing little package at a price to suit all pockets  . I've been mulling over a lightweight seatpack using PP as per the other threads, but it...

Re: Wildlife

The Sheffield peregrinettes have now decided to display themselves to the world. If we can have a V-WRT then I reckon we can have V-Wildlife. I'd like to say they're cute but of course they're not  .

Re: WhereYouAre Ride Thing 2020

Nobody's got my "bonus photo" location yet. No prizes, but I wouldn't want to, er, rob anyone of the satisfaction of getting it. Is it the scene of the great train robbery, somewhere near Wing? Used to drive past on the way to sample the delights of MK as youngster Yep, well done SP. Brid...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Especially when all the Welsh and Scots come over to England to enjoy our national parks  Think a lot of Englanders won’t realise that Wales and Scotland have different approaches and so won’t be able to visit parts. As I read it, Wales still carry on as they are, so they can't travel to Engl...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

So it seems like us Saesnegs are going to be allowed to ride around for exercise as much as we like from tomorrow - so long as we don't cross into Wales or Scotland and so long as we're alone or in family groups..... will be interesting to see the details tomorrow evening.... can't say I'm particula...

Nobody's got my "bonus photo" location yet. No prizes, but I wouldn't want to, er, rob anyone of the satisfaction of getting it. My favourite photo is JC's of Mad Wharf. If it was mine I'd be quite concerned about how far away the land is  . The thing that would have improved my V-WR...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Reckon also got to separate the 'biking' bit and the 'bivvy' bit. If we get told we can have 'unlimited' exercise in a day that covers your 100-mile ride but it probably doesn't cover the overnight ditch. I don't know what does, apart from 'you can now go and stay in a B&B for a night'? As other...

bottle cage

The infamous gaffer tape bottle cage stem cell has finally given up the ghost during the V-WRT after a few years sterling service. I've manufactured a new one at great expense. Due to technological advances over the last couple of years there's also a 10% weight reduction - from 10g down to 9g :-bd ...

Re: WhereYouAre Ride Thing 2020

Back. Yes indeed, that was a hell of a different day. Much colder, 30-40mph north-easterly winds, wasted my time putting suncream on. Quite knackered actually, so I'll just have a sit down here with a brew and some cake - thanks Stu. Very pleased to see I haven't missed the last piece of lemon drizz...

Unlikely it'll help much but since you ask, as per the recent tent thread, 20-yr old MacPac Microlight. Goes in a bar bag. One pole, four pegs, and you're done, solid as a rock. Love it.

Dead impressed you actually went out to Mad Wharf - that's a long way out to sea! That must be a WRT 'first' :-bd .

Not a bad day that really. It's gone ominously quiet from a few other participants though - hope they're OK and not marooned on top of some mountain or something.

By the way, I'm just going to the bar, can I get anybody anything?
