Absolutely.
Everyones an individual, but when you meet a stranger, you have to start somewhere.

Do you treat them the same to start with, or make an assumption on how they wish to be treated based on their gender?

Treating people how you want to be treated isn’t treating them equally either.
How do you treat them then :???:

Re: Topical Article By A Woman Who Bothies Alone

One thing I'd not considered too much previously were to make yourself known early on, at a decent distance. The trailside help one is a good example. Less easy in Caths running scenario though. If I'm catching up to a woman runner should I hang back so she doesn't think I'm chasing her, run past a...

Re: Topical Article By A Woman Who Bothies Alone

The point about men needing to be aware of how it feels on the other side and be prepared to step in if a friend / companion is behaving badly is well made. I'd like to think that everyone on here is already doing this. Its an important discussion to have, but its seems like its a society wide issu...

Have a look at the Spine race https://thespinerace.com/ That’s over 400k, so what you’re contemplating is certainly possible. It’s just a case of building up to it and being able to keep going. I have a plan in the back of my mind to do the Edale to Hebden section at some point which is 62k, but tha...

Hard to tell from the pictures, but if its been enough force to sheer the hanger it wouldnt surprise me if it bounced back with a similar amount of force and has struck the frame. Is it just the paint or the frame? If the frame is damaged its probably just bad luck. 50% discount on a replacement fra...

Re: Who plans their routes?

Theres a difference between having an outline of a trip in your head and i'm going on an adventure.

vs

Planning out every detail of a trip and then going out and actioning it.

I do a bit of both, but the best trips have always been on the winging it approach :-bd

Been running for a year, just as something different to do, but really enjoying trail running and looking forward to the time when fell races are allowed to happen again. Out of the door, along the road for half a mile and then into the woods, across Elland bridge, cheeky wall climb (V0-) across the...

Re: Where would you live in the UK...

Depends what you want? Stu said in the “meagre existence” thread that not many would want to live where he and Dee do. As much as it’s great to visit, the remoteness wouldn’t work for me. A bit further down the valley from Greg, with similar mix of trails from the doorstep and facilities on the door...

Think this sums it up for me.

I see it as a balance between having the cash to do the things you want, but also the time to do those things.

Being at either end of that scale isn't much fun.

From Diggle, take Boat Lane up to the farm and then the track up to Brun Clough.

From memory its all rideable, if a bit steep in places, but its a while since i've been over that way.

Re: Manchester to Leeds. a quiet way ?

Depends how you want to get over the Pennines? The most direct/quiet/pleasant way is over Buckstones from Denshaw. Its a nice steady drag up, usually with a tailwind. Not many cars, quite scenic, and you'll get your moneys worth on the drop down into the Calder Valley. Never found a nice way out of ...

I've just turned 30 and feel like I'm starting to hit my career "stride" having dicked about through much of my twenties. I've committed to a few years of pushing to 110% to build up some years back later in life, going part time sooner rather than later. Me +10 years, but i'm starting to...
