Re: Would there be any interest? ... carbon pole content.
By way of comparison, I bought a random fibreglass tent pole in Go Outdoors the other week. Cost under 2 squids, is 660mm long and weighs 79g. Well I can't compete with that ... but just make sure you're wearing eye protection in your sleeping bag, the glass poles can't half shatter given the right...

Re: WRT 'lonely hearts club' thread.
Well, I was planning on doing the WRT as a bit of a first timer to bikepacking*
But turns out I have an MSc exam on the 24th of May and another on the 28th of May, so I'll scrub out that idea :(
*kindof dabbled before, but not properly

Materials tech and the detail used with FEA (finite element analysis) allowing to hone in on designs and make them more efficient. So rather than new stuff, huge improvement (which we've already seen), but with historical data to aid R&D on frame design, wheels etc. So the excess fat will be tri...

Re: FS: Tubus Fly pannier rack + a few other things
Chaps and Chapesses,
I have now listed a load of my stuff as mentioned in this thread on eBay. See them here
I'm a bit loathed to put the Tubus Fly on eBay though, coz having a quick search for similar items, I think it would be a bit undervalued. Dropping price to £35, anyone interested?

Re: Tyre query...
Did you moisten the tyre bead with soapy water before fitting? I just keep pumping with the track pump until the bead has popped into place - usually don't need to exceed 50 psi. Once it's all in place I reduce the pressure back down to about 20 psi to let the sealant seal all the holes. What Ian s...

I'm guessing that these are a bit stiffer than the random bits of carbon pole you can find on eBay?
I'm potentially interested, say 50% interest rate

If you're fairly handy with a spanner, I'd take them apart and you might find that they just need a clean and they work, or at least you just need some new seals... I find it hard to beleive you need new pistons (although I haven't seen them!) . Brake fluid is like everyone says dirt cheap (i rememb...

Just don't hit bumps hard when you've got the tube stretched. I was forever pinching tubes on my wide 26x2.4 tyres when using 26x.2.0 tubes....I was going hell for leather and not really thought about it though Fine for get you home though.

Re: South East Bivvy in March?
I'm in Colchester, which is about an hour from the Dartford crossing. I'm probably alright with a 1.5 hour drive for a casual overnighter(i.e. after work friday), and a longer drive if it's something a bit longer. TBH though, I've got a few things going on and need to get done this march, so I proba...

I took apart a shimano nexus once coz it wasn't working. I fixed it with a hollow bit of tube and a hammer
But I had to be ooooh so careful taking it apart and putting it together. You can;t just simply change a bit of it :?

Stu, after seeing your emdroidery i was wondering if you ever thought of having bear bones logo sew on patches made, I'd probably buy a couple. There's a thought ... we've had the BB200 patches made before, so there's no reason why we couldn't do something. I'll do some asking. Along those lines, h...

Re: What a difference a tyre makes
Tyre pressures make a massive difference too, I've recently found out different tyres on the same bike require different pressures to be comfy (gave myself white knuckle for the first time ever due to a wrong tyre pressure) :? ...and this is obviously dependent on the weight of the rider + gear. And...
