From Mike's bookface: Pretty poor day at the office overall. Stomach cramps, breathing difficulty and some idiot pretending to be me on here distracting me from the job in hand. That's some pace he's going. I also reckon he has a little bit of experience with multi-day self supported rides in a competitive manor, so good chance he stays in this slot 8-)

Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?

In the interests of science etc, I'll omit to pack a sleeping mat on my next bivvy and try and pick somewhere soft. We'll see how it goes. I know a couple of people who do this, so provided you get the right spot it can't be too bad? I've tried that once in the interests of science. I woke up a cou...

Re: Cheap night out challenge

I'm assuming this is a start from scratch as if you have no kit affair? Or if you just itemise the cost of the kit you are using? As I'm just about starting to build up some decent kit and get going, and don't bivvy nearly enough, I think I shall half try this challenge if that makes sense. E.g. I'l...

Re: Pedal Advice

Im interested in how u ride properly on flats guys?? That's interesting - what's the trick to this? I never really considered it. Foot position plays a massive part. Here's a basic explanation. • If you're riding clipped in then your position is pretty much set. Generally the ball of your foot will...

Solomon XA shoes are great for both riding and walking. I have the non gore-tex version for drainage, which they do well. They flex enough when walking but have a rigid enough sole for biking all day with good flats. Expensive but they do last well. http://www.salomon.com/uk/product/xa-pro-3d-ultra...

What do you think about these? They'll work fine with straps but without your feet won't stay put. Why do you want to use straps? Why not just some decent flats? ... if you tell me that your foot comes off the pedal, I'll tell you how to stop it ;) That's interesting - what's the trick to this? I n...

Sounds like a dodgy circuit board controllly thing. I've got an older MSR E-wing, which admittedly I've not used in anger much. It's about the right size for what you're after and is made of silnylon type material. I'll weigh it later on if you want.
