Re: The post man's been ...

I wore them last weekend in the wind and rain on the Winter event and they performed fantastically. My Gore trousers are a similar price but as I said, these are on another level :-bd

Re: The post man's been ...

These actually dropped last week For the last 20 years or so, I've always wore Gore trousers when out mtbing. Thought I needed a change... After browsing the interwebs I found a pair of 45NRTH trousers available from 'Bike24.com'. It's a site based in Germany so I was thinking there could be issues ...

Re: WE 2023

Many thanks to everyone for making this a great social :-bd Arrived at around 7:30pm on Friday for the pre event 'warm up' by consuming the wrong type of calories...which incidentally had me fall asleep in the car with the lights on through the night! Re: How to.... Take your bike on a plane

Only done Iceland with the bike, so here's my bit... •Recommended airlines Flew with Easyjet. No issues except don't put your tent pegs or torque wrench in your hand luggage! •Excess baggage. Going out was fine as I could weigh the box at home, however on the return we (JC & me) had to pay extra...

Re: 2023 - Plans, rides and things to look forward to

There's defo some major rides planned by some of you, fair play :-bd I'll keep mine a bit more down to earth for us mere mortals... BB Winter event. And basically see how it goes. I managed 18 nights out in 2022 so it would be nice to be in the 20's... As I'll be turning 50 in November it would be g...

Re: What does your Christmas look like?

I do like the whole Christmas thing. As my lads are getting older it has changed somewhat. They are 16, 17 & 19 so the times of being g half cut trying to assemble kidd toys/trikes have gone. I do the cooking, love a roast dinner with all the trimmings. Will pop round to my parents house which i...

Unlike our soft northern brothers, our bothies have no doors, no windows and no stoves to keep the chill off 😉

Re: Snowdonia Winter Bivvy

Them 'sheep' were the very hardy Carneddau ponies which are a wild pony in the area. And yes the sheep are well ard too! I'd seen the mouse so put some maple syrup porridge oats outside for it and waited for ages for him/her to show up. Well chuffed though, got loads of good footage for the film too...

Snowdonia Winter Bivvy + Video

OK, not really a bivvy but it was bikepacking... Cycled from home Friday afternoon in the direction of the Eigiau Cottage some 18 miles away. I've done the route many times and it was all on familiar territory. Cycled through Conwy and up onto the hills and lower slopes of Tal y Fan. The weather kep...

Like I say I've been doing a bit of work on the place this year. The south wall had collapsed completely so that was rebuilt (I'm a bricky!). The floor needed a good sort out too as that is where the wall fell in the past. This pic is from the 1st time I used it nearly 2 years ago. You can see I can...

Typically for Global Fat Bike Day, I'd lead a ride either around Newborough with a camp or in Snowdonia with a stay at a mountain cottage. Unfortunately as Covid bit me a couple of months back, the bike wasn't even looked at and plans were not thought of. So it was to be a solo trip this year. With ...
