Re: The post man's been ...

Some bargain price (£15) Ti headset spacers from Gone Biking Mad. Not bad for a pack of 3, and there's no logo on them unlike the product photo, which is a bonus!
Also a nos USE Sumo seatpost for £15 from USE's factory outlet, so a decent bargain too, though i'm a bit sceptical of the clamp.

Re: Woods Rat Run

It is a nice route, and the quieter end is Cranborne chase and North Dorset, which is easy to overlook but worthwhile for a bivvy. As Dyffers said, outside of the villages, should be fine to find a spot and it's a cracking area. Aside from Swyre Head, you can get down to Chapman's pool area if you w...

Re: The magic roundabout ...

The Jones sounds like such a lovely classic though, and you could make it 2x12 if you wanted mammoth gear range, i guess it wouldn't be plus at the back though? You're then refreshing it with nice wheels and new drivetrain. The Broken Road (pinion or otherwise) is a decent option for sure, and can b...

Re: A wee whisky appreciation thread.

I lost my 'taste' for whiskey a couple of years ago, and i'm not sure why. I used to enjoy a very small tipple in the evening every now and then, but it got to the point that it just felt like reflux every time so I stopped. I used to like a Penderyn, Doublewood, Monkey Shoulder...single malts but n...

Re: Sleep system configurations

I've got a jungle bag and I used it on a chilly night (about 5'C) wearing merino tip to toe, and it was good. That was inside a hooped bivi. Worth noting that snugpak temp rating are for inside a tent and it seems to be their own rating, not directly comparable to other brands who use the EN standar...

Hutchinson Tundra. They are tough, with bead-to-bead reinforcement, and a fairly knobbly tread that actually rolls well, but copes well with mud/general back lane crap very well. A real all-rounder and I love mine. The tread makes it look more uncompromising than it is, it has a fairly rounded profi...

Re: What was the problem with 29+

I like the 29+ Klunker manifesto! :-bd (not sure what manus means though??) I agree that 29+ is very versatile, and can pretty much make the perfect rigid bike. They do also look fantastic! I'm less sure about a conspiracy, but it seems that B+ became the plus niche that was explored in a more mains...

Purple Hope Seat clamp and ZS headset - REDUCED

Purple Hope from a recent frame purchase, not to my taste so moving on. (Phone pics make them look blueish, but they are purple!) Both items are in excellent condition and very slightly used. Only slight marks on inner surface of headset cups from install and removal. 1 X Hope bolt up seat clamp 34....

Snow! That is all. Great picture thenorthwind! I'm happy today as it's the first time in at least 3 weeks when I've felt pretty much well. Had a stinker of a chest infection that wouldn't move until I got an our of hours doctor and a round of antibiotics last weekend. Not been on a ride in weeks, a...

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

After a good few years on a fairly sedate gravel bike, and with a wide range of tyre widths and two wheel sizes experimented with, I've concluded that there is an optimal tyre width cut off for a gravel bike. I have my own number, bits it's basically when the tyre width is too much for the frame des...

Tend to wear another variation of the Decathlon trouser. The cycling fit of the ones above are probably better, but these are lightweight and quick drying. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/men-s-hiking-trousers-mh500/_/R-p-325496 I just change what's underneath depending on the temperature. Re: The post man's been ...

Used some book vouchers to get these two bikepacking books. Also a nukeproof headset and spacers at a very good price for a new build. First flick through and the Wales book is really good, the Scotland one less so mainly because it is more gravel focussed with large proportion of tarmac. Anyway, lo...

Being in the car with my dad when he's faced with parking choices, makes me twitch. The indecision is incredible!

There is no great urinal debate, furthest away as possible (assuming no blockages/flooding!), no chit chat. That's it.

Consumer choice - have a very small limit for me mostly (not bikes of course!). I can't choose anything on Netflix without becoming mentally paralysed. Menus with too much choice, no thanks.

Social, lifestyle, health and freedom choices - very grateful for choices.

Re: Are you analogue?

Fairly pragmatic about it really, more about economy of effort or what I feel comfortable with. Analogue default a lot of the time, like a push mower for the small lawn. Axe and saw wood, small handheld hoover for clearing up the post breakfast carnage when kids insist on eating DRY Weetabix! Analog...
