Re: Wildlife

Was looking for the 'photos you like thread' but couldnt find and it can just as easily sit here.. Basically, this is why I love York (aside from the fact that almost everyone at least owns a bike... I asked for almost 3 or 4 years I think and potentially found 1 person who didn't)... So whilst buil...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

https://i.imgur.com/BzLTiEm.jpg Hardest thing for me when comes to building the bikes is the inernal routing. Not actually running the cable through but ensuring I've not increased friction. Pic above shows my little bodge of what IMO would keep the fiction down and after running i5 through to the ...

Re: Numb feet after riding

I was getting similar pains on 100 milers after getting my new shoes/boots. Best way I can describe what I understood (after lots of reading... or a little) to be happening was that my cleats were too far forward and causing the front of the foot to kindof cling to the spd... Re: Lovemud Rumour headset alternative for Sonder Transmitter (carbon frame)

Ok Shaf, here's a solution. I have large box of headsets that I amassed in my time as a pro mechanic. I've just found one of these https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/fsa-orbit-c-40-acb-1-5-headset-no-42-acb-/rp-prod84328 which, in the absence of you having indicated the type in the bike at the mom...

Re: Is this an exploration in stupidity?

Cane creek do one inbetween the 40 and the 110 which apparently is the 40 externals with 110 internals (bearings). I think its the hellbender. I have one which is waiting to go on the next bike. Its worked really well but has a solid crown race (not split). I'll probaby saw it before it goes on the...

Doesn't match any I don't think... but its the helm and might bring a warm glow  have put my di2 battery and Dura Ace cranks on fleabay .. lets see what that yields and maybe i can go be stupid

Re: What you done t' your bike today

I finally got this finished today and had a quick ride on it. It's very similar to the alu Camino that it's replacing (which is a good thing because I love the alu one) but with some subtle changes in feel and obviously the ride quality is different with the change in frame material. It also has a ...

Re: Are Carbon bars worth the ££?

In my experience carbon is that much more comfortable in bar terms, I've rendered any of my alu bars 'retired' and even sold on my monkeybars which were my bwst at one point (long time ago, I know... but still kept em for a future best bike for ages)...

Carbon :-bd

If you explain that to the seller any reasonable one would be willing to refund or return... I'd still build and ride em personally but would definitely have a stern word with seller/ebay... hope you got wm cheap enough

Re: Any wheel builder out there with experience of WTB kom rims

Just to add... under the tape/logo there should not be any jagged edges and it should be smooth enough to the touch. Can't tell from that 3rd pic if the actual alu is non jagged where the joint meets. If that makes sense

Re: Any wheel builder out there with experience of WTB kom rims

Just looked at em. In my opinion (there are others) and probably a fair few others, theres no problem with that joint. Perfeclty normal and usually you'd be careful at that joint during the build process...

Thats the thing... ive never actually had a new headset in there or the original. Just cobbled together what i had lying about and made do (i think I've got 45 degrees in there for both top/bottom).. Once I know what Alpkits original dimensions were meant to be then I might just (a big just) get mys...

Lovemud Rumour headset alternative for Sonder Transmitter (carbon frame)

Getting a clicking from the good old headset. This came on after I noted it was loose and tightened it enough to get the play out. Dont want it to go flop on me anytime soon (not that I'd be too worried but the mention on a thread has got me precaution(ing)... Not too worried as I've thus fa...

Re: Turn any bivvy into a hooped bivvy*.

That's 2 pieces with a join Sean. I'm thinking that it needs to be longer overall and with additional joints to reduce the packed length, hence the increase in weight. I'd estimate it could potentially rise to 15g total  Would it work well with one of them there Alpkit classic bivys (I forget...
