Oiling kitchen worktops now
Nowt worse than squeaky kitchen worktops 😉

Have decided against cleaning the conservatory roof, tomorrow, and will wait until it's a bit warmer.

Might end up back-flushing the pond filter, instead.

Re: The post man's been ...

Last as in "final one before retirement"? If so, I'm somewhat jealous I have jokingly referred to myself as currently "retired", but I'm only 33 so sadly it's a temporary situation  This won't make you feel better, but - "it makes me feel better" (59 3/4)

He should have brought my new Alpkit windproof but a stock error means they don't actual have the size I wanted :| Of course, they're being helpful in sorting it out as best they can, so this isn't a complaint. He did bring my last payslip and P45 though  Last as in "final one before ret...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

I've resumed my tile bagging activities, after a very slack winter (for many reasons)

Crept up from 32 x 32, to 33 x 33, but the scene is set for maybe 36 x 36 soon.

I'm getting dangerously close to having to ride in London 😱

Re: Apidura frame bag bladder - quick review

Much of a faff to top up? Did you have to remove the bladder or half empty the frame bag to do so? Yes....... I emptied the kit out above it (so load up with this in mind) and took it out to fill it up. But I was in no ITT so time wasn't an issue How feasible would it be, to remove the bite valve, ...

It sure is and, as I started work at 05:45, today, I didn't feel the slightest bit guilty about sloping off early for a sunny dog walk in the forest.

This website lists every fare for every journey on the UK rail network. Useful to work out what the basic parameters are, and helps to time your travel to get the cheapest fares. https://www.brfares.com The various ticket spitter sites can sometimes be helpful. I get the impression that you're not supposed to understand the pricing 'logic' A while back my brother-in-law wanted to visit his brother, in Glasgow, and there was a TV advert along the lines of 'Glasgow, from £10 return' (or some other ridiculously low price, that escapes me, right now) He tried...

I went out after dark last night to get the work week out of my head. I was just doing my irregular 1hr-10mile route and about halfway round a bloody great barn owl decided to fly along beside my for nearly 50m. I am not quick. It was about 3 seconds which felt like forever. Simply lovely. I had th...

Re: Disposable BBQ

The thing that surprises me with disposable BBQ is the lack of understanding regarding how long these things remain hot for. Re: Disposable BBQ

Every summer the parks round our village become pockmarked with little rectangles of burnt grass. These things are a disgrace. Total ban please. In our local park, I've seen families using disposable BBQs on the (very dry) grass - whilst sat next to vacant brick structures built specifically for th...

Re: Shimano brakes

The newer Shimano brakes, where you can screw a bleed funnel into the lever housing, are an absolute doddle to bleed. Even the older type, where you have to take the cover off the lever housing, to expose the reservoir, are reasonably easy. Bleed up, from the caliper, and take your time, for good re...

Not condoning the farmer's actions, but I can predict that a lot of incidents lead up this, and he'd just had enough. I know how he feels, as my neighbours simply don't give a stuff about where they park, and it's doing my head in. I have to think positively, though, and just thank them for giving m...

What do you recommend for a bar extender please? Sounds like a similar route to me - over to Southwater, then along the Downslink to the South Downs. Need to do a few bivvy trips that way, this year

Practiced being ruffty tufty out in Storm Eunice yesterday! Left home after the peak windspeeds had passed and rode/clambered over trees for five hours to get to the South Downs. It was wild on the tops so we bivied inside a hawthorn thicket like sheep. It worked perfectly. Up at 6am to savour a su...

Re: Bar harnesses - recommendation

I wouldn't use that as the 3rd strap goes around the headtube. That'll just cause wear to the paint/metal and abrade the strap. Look for something that straps to the fork crown instead. I concur - especially if there is no space between your top tube and your downtube, where they meet the headtube.
