Re: WRT 2015 non attendees - excuses and plans?

Such a large area means it's quite variable I'd imagine.

I have Rhayader for Saturday (Wet), Tregaron for Sunday (Lightning!), Llangurig for Monday (Showers).

Re: Newbie Kit List

Managed 800ml boil earlier with about 30ml of meths (and about a minute of burn to spare afterwards), so it's not too bad. Of course, out in the cold with the wolves baying... it might be another story.

Friend of mine suggested I test it in the shower. :???:

Doesn't require one as such, but as I'm using a wide bottom pan I thought I'd get one... and yeah, it's an Evernew.

Re: WRT 2015 non attendees - excuses and plans?

I'd also say that a bit of rain really isn't the end of the world and neither is riding in it. When conditions aren't at their best or your plans take an unexpected turn, remember that it's those times that you'll remember and oddly, you'll remember them fondly ... no one will talk about that bloke...

Re: Newbie Kit List

I'll be bringing a spare jersey and shorts on this one. I know I'm going to get soaked through to the skin, followed by another soaking the next day, so I'd at least like to start dry. I suspect the extra 500g wont kill me. As for you people not brushing your teeth on a two night trip. NASTY! :shock...

Re: WRT 2015 non attendees - excuses and plans?

I'm down to do it but have got one eye firmly on the weather. Have got a 4 day pass and won't waste it if it's going to be a wet, miseryfest! I think I might just alter my route and stay in a B&B or something if it's sub standard. I don't really have the wet weather gear to handle a full ...

I'm going to avoid looking at any other routes. I quite like the route I've setup for myself and I don't want to start second guessing things.

Mini Line-Lok guy runners and some 2mm cord. Should make setting up the tarp a bit easier. Shame you didn't say, I could have sorted you out on Sat night when you picked your poles up. I didn't know until I'd tried setting up the tarp and realised that I had no idea how to get it how I wanted it. :...

Re: I hate GPS

Thanks guys. Richard - I did exactly what you said numerous times - nothing there. I'm convinced I've done the same in the past - I'm sure it must be me but I can never guarantee one method will work. As I said above I've now ccopied it into both internal drive and memory card and it now shows up. ...

Re: I hate GPS

Export as GPX track (using whatever online tool you like), then put it in the GPX folder on the device. When you load the device, go to the menu, then "Where To" and select the track you put there. You can also select the track via tracks, and do what JC said by selecting "Show on Map...

Don't judge me if you see three days of being sat in a pub. DON'T YOU DARE JUDGE ME.

Re: Tyre like a sieve... adventures in tubeless.

Out of interest, what makes the pedros ones better than the Park ones? (I've got a few sets of the Park ones) I can't speak for the pedros ones, but for me the chunky end of the park ones was quite difficult to get under particularly tight beads. The tacx ones I'm using have a flat edge that gets u...

Re: Tyre like a sieve... adventures in tubeless.

Vaguely related, I was reading yesterday that CO2 escapes tyres far easier than good old fashioned air. Had no idea that it was advisable to re-inflate using a pump when back home after using CO2.

Wow, that would be crazy low in my case. I'd be terrified of the tyres burping.

Re: GPS basics

eTrex is pretty good in that it's always recording, no start / stop unless you choose to clear / save the track. Far better than forgetting to start the ride then realising you'd not recorded an entire session. :(

As for the route, you can just show it on the map and follow it passively.

Re: GPS basics

I've been using an eTrex 30 for years as my cycling GPS so if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I swapped over to an Edge 1000 last week and so far I'm hating it. :( BTW, the maps over at talkytoaster are a reasonable free alternative to OS maps (OSM). Not as detailed, but if you're...

Messes with my nerves going past the lower limits on the sidewall. I'm a big nancy. ;)

I might drop a couple of PSI more though as it was still a touch bouncy.
