Nice. Heading to Barcelona by train with the family in September. Hopefully we can get further afield using this.

Re: New SMD Lunar solo owner

If you look at the Bear Bones shop you’ll find some poles - carbon or aluminium - that are far superior to the flexi SMD offerings. Pegs. There are some people on here who could write a doctoral thesis about pegs. I get by on some mid weight candy-cane style Ti pegs that I’ve had for years. Can’t se...

Re: Cycling in the heat.

I’ve cycled in some big heat and been deployed into some very hot counties (don’t recall any carpet bombing…) I actually find cycling to be one of the most bearable activities in very hot weather - far more pleasant than sitting around for example. I think the breeze you create helps a lot. Just dri...

Re: New bar mount for Garmin Edge with external charge contacts

Suppose so. It’s not a bad idea - it’ll keep your edge safe whilst charging. It’s the the same price as the Garmin battery - I’m very happy with the edge/power pack combo especially with the option to top up from a dynamo. Think I’ll wait a few years for the solar tech to get cheaper and my current ...

Re: New bar mount for Garmin Edge with external charge contacts

Sure, but the power needs to come from somewhere.
Generator hub output would need to go through a converter which you may as well plug directly into the unit.
It would save you from getting the USB port in your edge wet though, which can only be a good thing.

Valley & Peak. UK made, synthetic only but for a high summer weight quilt there’s not a lot of difference in size/weight compared to down.

Save some money and just stab your legs with a fork. The effect is pretty much the same in terms of pain :-bd

2019 looks more like it. This year is Trans Ireland plus ferries. The link up with Wales just looks like extra complexity for the sake of it.

Re: Pan Celtic 2022

Am I seeing the route correctly? All it shows is Ireland and a tiny bit in Wales. How does that amount to Pan Celtic? What about Cornwall, Mann, Brittany and Scotland? and that’s only the areas where Celtic languages and culture survived into the medieval period. I’m just about to go and ride around...

Re: My BB200 Black Badge (training) Thread.

No super hero riding… Keep going forward, even if it’s walking - this is me. Two BB200 and two Black Badges and I walked up most steep hills from pretty early on for both. I like the matches analogy for endurance events. ie. You start the ride with your energy reserves represented by a box of matche...

Are Hope brakes hard to bleed?

I’m in the market for my first set of hydro brakes. I recently set up a set of Magura MT7 for a mate and the bleed was simple and easy. The brakes were also impressive if ugly and not brilliantly made. My short list is currently either MT7, SRAM Guide somethings or Hope Tech 4 somethings. My heart s...

Re: What's your current dream bike?

Was speculating further on this during my jaunt at the weekend. If I could get my hands on a Gravel bike frame which can do SS made of nice steel but with a placcy fork, I'd be quite pleased. The Straggler is almost there but I yearn for a better SS system.... Keep a look out for a second hand Tran...

Re: What's your current dream bike?

Right now I’m thinking Ton’s XL-Ti Fargo. It’s not going to happen though as my current steel Fargo will need to die first and that probably requires me to die with it under the wheels of a truck. So even then it’s never happening. Damn  So an Xl Would fit someone sized like yourself or mine!?...
