Re: What did I do wrong?

If i'm right, this is the spec for the bag Comfort Temp: -1°C Limit Temp: -7°C Extreme Temp: -25°C For customers to my store, I would say the -1c is for people who feel the cold and women (they generally feel the cold more), whilst the -7c is ok for someone who sleeps warm (and those people who insi...

Re: New bike - decisions

( In typical internet fashion, I bought product X, so it must be the best ) I've got the Salsa and I really like it. Got it setup as a singlespeed with Fargo rigid forks and it rides lovely. The frame was finished really well, nice and easy to build up. You can also run it with gears, so great if yo...

Re: When was your last Bivi?

Technically, it's was the WRT and I promised myself to go out each month  I managed a weekend trip in July riding in North Wales but stayed at a mates house, but that doesn't count. Mite my style though, quite like a hot shower at the end off a rife and a pub tea. I'm such a wimp ;) Tried a loc...

Re: How do you get your consent form signed (by the missus)?

I don't do that badly. Longest trip I've had is 12 days driving to and back from Morzine to watch a few stages of the TdF and I've had plenty of mini trips too. The wife goes away with the girls, so it's all balances out (in fact, missing each other/having your own space for a few days is healthy fo...

My Salsa anything cages arrived today, nice one Charlie!

Are there any good dry bags on the market that work well with them? Something semi rigid would be good to support items inside

Re: The road from Karakol

Went to the Manchester viewing last night. Another year of great videos. That cycling film was excellent, good mix of comedy, scenery and the hardships of travel. I particularly liked the surf video, that was excellent. Those guys were nuts to live in the Arctic Circle in a homemade shack and then t...

Also took delivery of a set of Cinelli Spinaci bar extensions in orange to match the Inbred. I remember these things from way back at the tail end of the Dachshund of Time when all the Italian pros used them until they were banned because they kept falling down when they did so. I've been wanting t...

WRC- Roadside photos

Just got back from Park Ferme in Deeside, North Wales. Got up at 5am this morning to take some photos of the cars setting off for the last day of the rally. http://singlespeedsimon.wordpress.com/2013/11/17/wrc-roadside-fan/ Was good fun seeing and hearing the cars this morning. 4th day on the run I'...

Re: Are you happy with your bar end shifters?

I swear I've seen someone in singletrack mount their rohloff shifter into one of those bar extender thingies that are designed for lights/computers etc.

The chap was riding an on one with drops but that's about as helpful as I can be :( It did look very neat though

Re: Is a flat bar crosser just a hybrid?

What are the rules for the 3 peaks? I believe they're quite picky about the bikes, so if it matches their description, then it's a crosser

Re: Waterproof Shorts... worth it?

I've trimmed a pair of GTX paclite pants into shorts and it works fairly well. More mud proof than waterproof, but keeps me comfortable during a ride. They do wear thin quite quick though on the bum, guess the sandy mud my way grinds the seat area away

OT-winter/indoor hobbies

Now that the nights are drawing in, what does everyone do to pass their time? It's all too easy to sit in front if the TV everynight! Obviously I still ride in the winter and do night riding etc, but sometimes it's good to chill in the house with a coffee. I've been thinking of airfix for a while bu...

Re: Water bottles just a bit smaller than a 750ml?

Excellent, I'll look into the podiums as I already have the normal type. Failing that, that decathlon looks a good option. In the past, I could only find sigg but didn't want metal bottles.

Thanks chaps :)

May I hijack this thread please? Can anyone help with finding a bottle that has a cover over the mouth piece? Using cages on my forks and they get covered in rubbish :(

Some exposure lights arrived this week, spoilt myself with 2 joysticks and a rear flare (which I'm highly impressed with for commuting). Even better, Rutland Cycles had them in sale and they delivered next day for free :D

Cheers Chew, I haven't used one, but did think the rating was optimistic for its pack size. In that case, they do a 15C version too, so that may be an option on the safe side :D

Re: There 'n back ... entries open.

Sea to summit do a sleep bag liner that costs about £45 and will roughly add 8^C of warmth and it's about the size of a tin of beans. Might be worth looking into.

It's my anniversary around that weekend and my Mums 60th, so no permission to attend :(
