Re: Proposed Wind Farm near Glaslyn
The biomass/wood power stations are particularly bad, as I think they rely heavily on imported fuel from North America. One in Cumbria I am aware of from a few years ago was trying to be reliant on their waste and local short rotation coppiced willow, the willow having significant positive side eff...

Re: Proposed Wind Farm near Glaslyn
due to capitalism we want everything cheap Pretty certain the average person in a communist country wants everything cheap as well It's a sad reality that infrastructure projects like wind farms, reservoirs, incinerators, nuclear power stations etc do little for the people who live in the areas tha...

Possibly clearing stock and managing cash flow to fund egravel bike stock? It's the mtb's that are on SPJust saw this as well. Wonder if Alpkit are struggling? They did seem to go all in with Sonder, I wonder if they've been caught out by the great bicycle bubble burst?

Re: Anyone own one of these stove/pot setups!?
Old school hexamine solid fuel is quite good and performs well
However it covers the pan in soot (wipe off with a tea bag) and is toxic indoors
The modern solid fuel used by esbit etc doesn't really compare

I was yo-yoing with them on a lot of it, the Dads made some smart decisions on later sections of day one to cut out some of the more "interesting" bits in the woods etc

Mebbes one to do at dark O'clock then.... Day or night locals ride it so it's not controversial cheeky, emx, Mx and quad bikes are the big problem, if you ride it you'll spot where they have been as they don't care about the damage Thankfully it's not at all bleak there so the views will make up fo...

I've the current route GPX and I didn't see anything that wasn't legal - will be looking closely at the route if I get that far! It's the section off Rochdale Road at Fecit Lane/ Coal Road and the run along the wind turbines. There's a locked gate because it's footpath only. After a short run on th...

I doubt any will be, they'll just put new turbines on the site and forget about the concrete base they are supposed to remove from the old turbinesright through to decommission.
As for noise, some on the 2022 BB200 route were really loud

Re: 2.5kg too heavy for bar harness ?
i have quite a tidy set up bag wise, but my harness when packed weighs 2.5kg. I had a setup that must have been a similar weight with bag, tent, first aid kit, paramo jacket and puffer on the winter event, fine when riding, clumbersome getting through the myriad of gates my badly chosen route took....

Re: Lightweight touring rack | Tailfin? Other alternatives?
I have the aeroe pannier rack, it's great, works well on my mtb's and transfers with not too much faff, seems bullet proof
It is however hefty, and not and instant switch over, not sure whether i would be happy fitting on a lightweight carbon frame

The track now became a quad bike track through rushes and led past another barn/shippon. What was strange was that none of the old fields looked particularly workable or likely to produce crops. Farming subsidies, this type of grassland is important for ground nesting birds and if unimproved probab...
