Another point to note is that if we are fancying dinner at the Plume, we will almost certainly need to book a table...

Just saying...

Re: South West Winter Bivi - Dartmoor Area?

Helo chaps! Sorry I have only just read this! Count me in. I am happy to put together a route from Bovey Tracey up onto the moor to Princetown, then onto Foggintor quarry for a bivvi if you like? It's quite spooky there at night.... Be a pleasure to ride with you Dave. We can meet up on the way out ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

October BAM done and dusted. Another local ride to a high up spot overlooking the bay. It drizzled all night, which was not too bad. My permavent groundsheet stopped the rain water running off as I was in a little dip. By this morning, I could just start to feel that my feet may be getting a little ...

I have to say their pictures make it look absolutely stunning! Obviously it is really stunning. It certainly doesn't evoke my memories of BB200s  Can't deny the fact that we are very lucky to be able to ride somewhere so beautiful and even luckier that Stu puts together routes that are true gem...

Dartmoor will certainly provide plenty of BB200 like challenges!

The hills may not be as big as Wales, but there are many. Much bog, many tussocks, and lots of suffering available...

Re: Many Thanks

A fab weekend in Wales. I had a cracking ride in some wonderful scenery. I didn't finish the full 200 this year, but I had the most sociable ride I think I have ever had at a BB event. I had a great chat with Shafiq, a very amusing walk through bog and carry across streams with Al, and a very agreea...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Not forgotten a mat but have forgotten the sleeping bags (once!) when camping. There's a hysteresis or lag in ground temperature compared to air temperature across the seasons - the ground takes a while to heat up but by the same means stays relatively warm as the air temperature begins to drop at ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

September BAM done. I was planning to go out on Saturday night, but torrential rain and high winds did rather dampen (haha) my enthusiasm, so I postponed until last night. Despite it being a school night the weather was very obliging so off I went. Another very local spot on a cliff top overlooking ...

Don't worry about talking to yourself. I do that loads on the 200, especially through the night. Often questioning why I am in mid Wales on my bike in the middle of the night and using alternative names for the evil genius who put the route together! Keep moving... Even when pushing, carrying or cra...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

August shows me that it doesn't always go to plan. Not every night out under the stars is a triumph of man or woman against nature. I had picked a spot a few weeks ago whilst out having a van picnic with Mrs Darbeze (Fi). So late Friday night I ventured out a couple of miles down the road to a spot ...

Frame bag received safely thanks. My first frame bag. Looks like it fits a treat too... My set up does make me smile. Every piece of luggage is made by a different manufacturer. Don't think I would make a very good "Influencer", whatever that means  Much appreciated Stuart :-bd Si

I always use a small backpack. Despite what most people say, I like the feel of a bag on my back. I do have a rigid framed 20ltr bag which spaces the bag off the back, so you don't get too sweaty...
