Re: Blink and it’s gone
All the usual 'markers' that help me define and shape the year weren't there, so any sense of time has largely gone. Each day seems a continuation of the last and a week just feels like a very long day ... if that makes sense. On a shorter timescale, I’ve been sitting at home since lockdown and my ...

Re: xmas gifts for a cycling wife............ help!
My wife and I have been married for 48 christmases. We've come to a point where we have everything we want/need. If we need something, we buy it whatever time of year it is. Same with birthdays, so instead of buying for each other, we make a donation to the Salvation Army and buy each other a token ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.
BAM for November. 11/12. Last chance saloon. :-bd I was going to do a double BAM in case Wales was locked down again, but it was not to be because I'd have had to be back at home before 9 o'clock on the 2nd. So it was a single in Moel Fferna quarry (disused) in the Berwyns. I got there after dark, i...

Last I heard, we can still go on holiday in Wales, but only if we live in Wales. I'm on a 1 night camping holiday in a slate quarry in the Berwyns. On my November BAM - lying in bed, looking at a full moon.

Re: Overnight stays still banned?
Has anyone seen how the new rules affects overnight trips to Wales? It's not an answer to your question but for us Cymros the picture is much better. This is off the Welsh gov page:- “ I live in Wales, can I go on holiday in Wales or the rest of the UK? You are allowed to go on holiday within Wales...

Re: Re-proofing Goretex
OK, so I'm fed up of my Goretex. Lots of votes on here for the Columbia Reign, but looking at the photos, they look a bit short at the back. I fear a wet bum. So, you chaps that have them, are they long enough? And what about the other option, the Paramo Analogy? 'S a lot of money, sure, but I can s...

Re: Underquilt extra warmth?
Ive tuned the way I hang the underquilt so that I can adjust the tension from in the hammock. My UQ has adjustment so I can alter the tension lengthways and across at the head and foot ends. This is where I got the idea from :- https://youtu.be/VHaoK341vR4 Once in, I can feel under the UQ to see if ...

My grandad worked on the gangs that put the first telegraph poles up to bring the telephone to remote parts of the UK. They used to camp wild in the stretches between the towns and villages. He was fond of telling a story about when one of the gang went off into the bushes for a crap. My grandad cr...

Re: Ever built a no expense spared bike?
Nope! And never will. 'Y see! I know B-all about bikes, so if I even wanted to try, I’d be reliant on the opinions of others who (say they) do. The trouble with that, is that everyone has their own ideas on what is the bees knees. Reviews are either from magazines who’ve been sponsored in some indir...

Re: Hooded waterproof jacket
I’m in the market for a rain jacket too and tempted by this Reign that lots of you seem to like, but on the pictures it looks a bit short in the back. I’m wondering if it’ll cover my backside if I’m leaning forward to the handlebars.

BAM October. 10/10 for 2020. Due to our local (Wrexham) lockdown and the impending the Welsh national one, Octobers' BAM was a quick dash 'n crash just 7 miles from home. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50516939266_89ed17a52c_w.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50516939681_1208ea6500_w.jpg...

Watching the goldfinches on our birdfeeders. Great entertainment. I'd say "free entertainment" but they're going through those sunflower hearts like me through a choccy bar. We're having to buy them by the lorryload to keep up. Nice Reg. Here this morning I was watching the family of blue...

I once read that the best safety feature for a car would be a 9 inch sharpened steel spike sticking out of the centre of the steering wheel. Drivers would make sure they didn’t hit anything with one of those fitted.

September BAM - done! 9 of 12 for 2020. A very (too) hard ride around the Berwyns to check out a route for the Pensioners Outing next month. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50341908728_c61d855b06_n.jpg Its worse than it looks - the last 8 miles was on canal towpath.
