Sorry, finally checked and the Spyre had been used somewhere along the way. I have 2 x BB7, one with some worn pads and the other with what look like fairly new pads.
Pics to give you an idea, let me know if you're interested.

Re: For those who like clean bits.
Worth bearing in mind that ultrasonic cleaners aren't really designed as 'degreasers'. Basically, they won't shift oily / greasy deposits. Well in that case it's performing admirably then  Tthe key is to clean them regularly so it doesn't build up too much. I'm working on other people's bikes...

Re: For those who like clean bits.
How good are these meant to be on bike bits? I ask because, inspired by this thread, I bought this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07YBV7XBT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (luckily it was a bit cheaper on Black Friday or some sale) ....and I'm not that impressed! With sim...

Re: Stans Arch & Crest
That's ironic! I came here to post this after finding similar with a WTB rim (goes out of true/loses spoke tension when a tubeless tyre is fitted) and the conclusion of this thread is 'over tighten Stans rims in order to be able to make them reliably rideable'! https://forums.mtbr.com/wheels-tires/t...

Re: Tubeless Repair Kit
Glad to hear a glowing review of the Oko Hi Fibre, I am currently experimenting with new sealants and just got the Oko and the Barbieri from PX to give them a shot. I've got as far as pouring both on the floor to see consistency/drying time so far and the Oko seems more promising in that test! It wa...

Re: Tubeless Repair Kit
There's a trick that helps both getting it in and out without disaster - twisting the tool. Also when pulling the tool out, hold the edges of the worm with your thumb. FWIW I've got the Genuine Innovations kit (small stabby thing, skinny worms) and the Lifeline one for worse problems (larger stabby ...

Re: GRVL-bar bag... and stuff?
Oh, and don't forget to suggest that cheaper grvl-bar-loving bag I needs for my tent to go on bars! I've probably missed something again, but for the above, based on the photo at the top that looks good to me! Just add some voile straps/toe straps and strap it onto the bars. Optional bin bag if you...

Does no one else think this is highly unlikely to be possible, or is all my kit just that massively bulky?dogthomson wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 9:26 am As for pack size the bag needs to fit in the 8L Podsacs handlebar bags that Planet X sell, along with my Alpkit Bivi Bag and sleeping mat.

I built a wheel using these, started them off using a rotor bolt (with a microscopic amount of blu-tac to hold the nipple in) used the flats on the other end of nipple to do most of the tensioning and truing.

Re: Drive train cleaner / degreaser?
Pretty much this. I think we are currently using Halfords citrus cleaner. Really dirty chains/cogs just get left in the container overnight to let things soak. I'm careful about this - depending on the cleaner, there is a chance it'll discolour the metal if left for a prolonged period. I've had a c...

For chain, chain off, Virosol and warm water in a jar, shake, empty, repeat until water looks clearish then scrub with nailbrush to finish. For cassette, removed from hub and in same mix in an old 5L container with the side cut open. Leave for a while then scrub to finish. Chainrings I've sometimes ...

WTD: Cable Hydraulics
Hi all, wondering if anyone has any Hy-Rd/Juin Tech type brakes lying around? I really only need one for the front, (post mount), but would be happy with a pair at the right price! Black preferred but anything considered. On a side note, do everyone else's Spyre's self-adjust (outwards) over time? I...

Re: HOW MUCH!!
I probably spent £20-25 a year on wax lube as it is, that's only 3 or 4 bottles. Most durable wax lube I've used (Fenwicks) can go for 300, maybe 400 miles at a push in the dry but it's thick and a bottle doesn't lube the chain that many times. The least (Muc-Off) generally won't last 100. You coul...

I was reading the first post and about to reply "that's exactly what I carry as a backup light, and I bought it for no money off ebay"! Good to see you found it. It's not the brightest but really doesn't draw huge amounts of power either (I ran it off a 10,000 mah Anker power pack and it w...

Re: Cheap dynamo wheelset on wiggle
They do look good (as long as the decals are removable!)
Even being able to build my own wheels they would be tempting if I wanted similar spec. The dynamo alone is £120+
The only thing is, having had a warranty claim on an SP dynamo, I wonder how complex that process would be with one of these.

They may have the same number of threads[ spokes thread all the way through so this is immaterial] but 14mm spokes are still 2mm closer to the spoke than 12 mm Double checking, you're right re DT Swiss nipples, the 14mm has 1mm more thread than the 12mm and the 16mm has 2mm more. It might depend on the calculator, but I'd not even think about using 260 if the calculator I use ( https://www.wheelpro.co.uk/spokecalc/ ) said 261.1 . I'd do 260/262 if you're buying spokes that sell in even numbers, 261/263 in odd. You'd get away with all 261 or 262 Longer nipples aren't a soluti...

Re: Any wheel builder out there with experience of WTB kom rims
In one of the wheel building books he cut a rim into 6 pieces, taped it together to hold it in the right place then built it back into a rideable wheel in order to prove the joint wasn't what kept the rim together. I'll see if I can find the bit (and indeed which book it was in)
