Re: New Route in Central Spain

I'm not sure we did really meet at TNR - although I was sitting near Scott for the Pizzas pre-depart. I stopped at the refugio at the top of the finestre on Day 1 so was a little behind you and didn't see Craig on the road at all (we rode together for a while on day 2 of the HT in 2017). I had a bro...

Re: New Route in Central Spain

Great news re: Ernesto, I don't think I spoke to him at TNR last year but be great to ride with the route maker.

My gravel bike only takes 40s so I'll bring the mtb with a rigid fork if big tyres are going to be best.

So is that me and Maxap definitely in, and Andy and James 'maybes'?

Re: New Route in Central Spain

Excellent - flights booked 14th-21st :-bd It's not the end of the world if it falls through for £42 - will add bike later!
Mtb or drop bar do you reckon? Looks pretty gravel bikey to me but happy to bring either...

Re: New Route in Central Spain

I'm definitely in for 14th-21st if I can get it sorted out fairly quickly - my wife has kindly cancelled something so if it's not going to happen she could still go away!

I'm almost definitely in, too - just need to sort out a couple of things today.

Are you going to ride in from Nice, James? Only another 1000km!

Re: “Best” cycling waterproof trousers

If you can find a pair, the cheap Tenn ones are superb value for a wear all day set. Comfy, waterproof and breathable enough, but not packable so only really practical if you know it's going to be cold and wet all day. https://road.cc/content/review/142371-tenn-outdoors-driven-waterproof-breathable-...

Re: Highland Trail 2019

Actually looking at the replay there is something weird going on - she started up the climb, turned around to head down to poolewe, and has now turned around again to head back on route... no idea what is going on - she knows the route and the nav there is pretty easy...

yep she's going slowly on a fast bit of trail. I doubt she would miss the turn that takes you over to the postie path so maybe she is walking out to poolewe?

Re: Highland Trail 2019

I just had to email Alan to send him my pre-start scratch. My ankle is pretty much ok, but I've got a kidney infection and won't be off the drugs til mid next week. Be a bit rash to start given my medical history. All in all it's been a bit of a disaster this year! The bonus is that I've got n...

Re: Highland Trail 2019

My preparation has been terrible with illness this year - and then I crashed on Sunday and sprained my ankle  Seems to be improving fairly rapidly - no really bad bruising - but I'd say I'm 50/50 for a start, and less than that for a completion in the time I have (need to drive back south on F...

Re: Do I want flat pedals?

I wondered what happened to you! I ride both - this weekend I was on clips, but I did the HT550 and lakeland loop on flats with a dropper because they have more HAB and more (and longer) technical descents. The efficiency is true, but I so rarely try to really put any power down when bikepacking tha...

Re: Braunton 150

January? Oof. That'll be tough  . Both times I've done it I had a decent sleep and did it in under 30 hours. It's a lot of short steep climbs that grind you down, but is good fun. Sub 24 very doable by a mortal (you don't have to be Liam!) if conditions are good and you press on through the n...

I lost my garmin etrex on T-N last year - does anyone have an old one that they've upgraded for sale?

Thanks,

Re: Wanted. Garmin Etrex mount

I had a couple of the knock offs and had the thing bouncing off a couple of times. I finally lost my etrex on torino nice - the battery cover was still attached to the mount, but the actual unit split in two... which reminds me that I need a new one!

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?

Had a quiet year this year with just Torino-Nice as a big trip. I have been riding my big bike a bit more though which has been fun so hope to keep that up. BAM Lon Las Cymru just after new year I hope. Maybe another winter transcambrian in a day, or another LL200. Dirty Reiver Possibly big bear if ...

Re: Wheels, frame and forks

Strange question, but could you possibly measure the length of the back of that jacket from where the seam where hood attaches to the bottom? I've got an outdry jacket at the moment that I really like but it is a bit short in the back, especially on the bike. That one looks a bit longer, but a measu...
