Hmm. It must be me,then. I never put anything else in them but water - no juice, no isotonics etc. Do you? I still get the flavour when I use the water from it to make tea.

Osprey 3 l bladders, £13 at Evans https://www.evanscycles.com/brand/osprey/3-litre-reservoir-931575#colcode=93157501 I don’t know if they’re the same ones, but I’ve had two Osprey back packs with bladders. I couldn’t get the taste of plastic out of either of them. Tried the bicarbonate of soda in 5...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022

Aaaand another one bites the dust! BaM for July - 7/12 for 2022. It was my daughters' birthday yesterday (Sunday) and we went out for lunch to celebrate. On the way home, at around 4:30pm, it suddenly occurred to me that with the clear blue skies likely to last until Monday it would be a good time t...

Re: WTB Balance bike

When my grandsons were living with us (from age 18 months) I got tiny kids bikes from the car boot sale for a couple of quids, took the cranks and chains off. Bingo - an almost free balance bike that they could throw around the yard without me worrying about the damage. Worked a treat. Once they wer...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022

June BaM Done. 6/12 for 2022. Time was running out for a June BaM so this one had to be a local ride-to-bivvy. To make it more of a "thing", (no, not an adventure, definitely not an adventure), I hatched a plan to bivvy in a cave not too far from home that my son (the caver) had mentioned,...

We had a re-visit from a parakeet on the peanut feeder today. He was hanging around back in January but we hadn’t seen him since then. We thought the winter had done for him, so we were very pleased to see him again.

May BaM+1. I've already posted a BaM for May (WRT), so this is an extra one. It doesn't count for June because I started out in May. I'm on leave from work for a couple of weeks so what better way to start my holiday than with a bivvy ride. This one was just 15 miles from home, mostly on lanes (Cycl...

That’s a relief. I didn’t think you were smug at all, I just felt a bit daft for not having a reservation myself..

Be careful how you wash your kit!

At the last Winter Event I was impressed by Chris' (Bearlegged) Brynje string vest. I get very sweaty riding with a backpack on and thought it would be warmer and dry quicker when I stopped, so I bought one, size XXL. £50. I wore it once, on my April bivvy and Mrs Frog washed it with other stuff. It...

I've just booked an advance train ticket from Caersws to Wrexham to get home (I'm getting a lift in) £3.75. I wasn't sure if I could get there in time so I booked on the next one too. That's £7.50. An anytime ticket would have cost £15.80.

Re: MSR Trailshot issues

My trailshot's a bit temperamental sometimes too - it won't draw up to start filtering. When I can’t get it to start, I put my mouth over the outlet spout and suck until the water comes through. Once I’ve got it that far it usually pumps ok.
