Re: Todays ride
How things can change... A nice ride in the sunshine expected, from home to Ellesmere lake (about 12 miles). Lunch packed, flask filled and set off in bright sunshine and blue sky from horizon to horizon. Half an hour later, although there still seemed to be no clouds in the sky, it started to get g...

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
The cave bivvy looks great! Top job :-bd Thanks. It seemed like a good idea at the time but I’ll not be going there again. My back's still aching from humping the bike up and down the slopes, aaaand it’s not that good of a bivvy spot anyway. Being honest, I only went there for the bragging rights. ...

This was above my head in bed on my latest bivvy. Stripy sandstone.

BaM 11/11 for 2022. Mad Allens Hole. Again, it was to be a longer trip, but, you know, events.... A quickie, then, just 15 miles from home, in another cave on the sandstone trail. Like last month, I hadn't been there for a few years and although I knew where it was, it turned out that I didn'...

Oh marvellous. Spiffing. Rail strike called for the Fri/Sat. Hate driving all that way, hate it full stop really, even assuming Mrs P will lend/hire me the motor. And the answer is…. The strike is on 7th but you’ll be coming up on the 6th so you’ll miss it. It’ll only be a problem for getting home....

That’s the right attitude - always look for the positive. Eg. Ok, so the house has burnt down, but all the extra heat has brought the daffodils up a fortnight early…..voodoo_simon wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 10:35 am

Re: Bivvy a month 2022
October BaM in progress. Not much of a BaM, this. Just making up the numbers - not much of a ride and not far from home, but it's the only chance I'll get this month. I've had a pint of something nice at the Credington Arms in Tilston, with a convivial half hour with the locals then a not-so-nice-bu...

The Via de la Plata is definitely on my list for next year, we were due to do it about now but my ongoing shoulder injury from falling off in June have scuppered multi day trips for now. I reckon 9 days riding should be about the right pace. 9 days? :o I was thinking two weeks at least 'cos I ain’t...

A little while back, I was harping on to Mrs Frog about the Camino and how I’d love to have an adventure like that - a last hurrah before it’s too late, sort of thing. I almost poked my eye out with a dinner fork (we were eating at the time) when she said, “I think you should do it” :o :o Oh ‘eck! N...

For September, I'd wanted to bivvy near Abbots Bromley to see the Horn Dance but events made that impractical so I ended up on Anglesey, hammocking with my son and grandson. Oh well, the horn dance will have to wait until next year. I caught a train on to the island and rode along lanes, stopping to...

There's a dozen of these in a patch of grass beside the public toilets on the Pontcysyllte aqueduct car park. I’ve tried, without success (before I lost interest), to find out who's in charge of them. They’re very sturdy but I don’t know if they’d take more than one full-sized bike, so they’d take u...

A nice ride on the Mawddach trail from Penmaenpool to Barmouth and back… but… I left my Osprey back-pack in the car park toilets. Bummer. Didn’t notice until this morning. Now I’ve got to spend a couple of hundred quid to replace it and the bits that were in it. And no one to blame but myself…

August BaM - Done. I went looking to see an Emperor dragonfly. Didn't see one. Either too late in the season or too cold or too early in the morning. My third time there in less than a year. Hmm. Must try harder, yes, but they were three different shelters - flat tarp, Gatewood cape, hammock. ...

A few years ago, there was an IOS app that would have been ideal for this. It was called Drift, from Brokencitylabs.org and was designed to get you lost in your local area. When opened, it would tell you to (eg) go west for n blocks then turn and (eg) take a photo of the first tree you see…. And so ...

Yup. Same stuff. I expect that if they all it flaxseed in the shops, they can charge a bit more for it.redefined_cycles wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 10:21 pm
Thanks Farriers... so barley (that dug into my socks) and flax for linseed. Is that different from flaxseeds then (apparently supposed to be good for supple joints).
