Re: Evolution of sports
I have fond memories of Cockermouth climbing wall in the early 90s. The overhanging section was an actual manufactured climbing wall (Bendecrete I seem to recall), another bit was a breeze block wall with holes knocked in it and beckstone holds cemented in, and the last section was an old sandstone ...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Both of my bikes have only got one set bottle bosses inside the front triangle, so I like to carry a larger bottle when it gets warmer. I'm hoping to be able to unscrew the filter and use it as a normal bottle with clean water most of the time, and only fitting the filter when using a questionable s...

Re: OS app. Any good?
I use it loads for biking and hiking, and I really like it. I can plot routes on my laptop and the app on my phone picks them up quickly, you can save routes and maps to your phone for when you have no signal, and if you have an OS paper map with a download code, you can upload the full map to the a...

"The filter eliminates up to 99.9999% of all Bacteria, Viruses, Chemicals and Heavy Metals". What, (as good as) 100% of ALL viruses, chemicals and metals? That's a heck of a claim. My mate uses a Water to Go bottle, and he's filled up at the same rank water sources as me when I used eithe...

Tumbleweed Racks in the UK.
I contacted Tumbleweed earlier to see if they had a UK stockist for their Alloy Persuader Bars. They replied that they didn't, but that Wizardworks would be stocking their racks soon. I contacted Wizardworks to see if they would also be stocking the bars (unfortunately they won't  ), but they s...

Re: If you were to buy a E bike ??
A bloke I work with was a very keen mountain biker, but then he was seriously ill for a long time with cancer and the aggressive treatment afterwards. I'm glad to say that he's ok now, but he bought a (very expensive) Specialized full suss E Bike to help get his fitness back following his recovery. ...

Re: Fat Fighters '22 - (The year of victory edition!)
I'll jump on this bandwagon too. I lost 2 1/2 stone last year and that's made a big difference, so I want to lose at least another 2 stones this year. I've put half a stone on over Christmas, but I enjoyed every morsel I ate and every drop I drank, so I'm not too disheartened. 4th Jan, 16' 5'' or 10...

I ordered a Swift Zeitgeist last week, and this week I had a message from Shona at Keep Pedalling that they had a Wizardworks Shazam! in stock that was (ever so slightly) shop soiled. They both arrived today.

Re: Todays ride
Given the weather forecast between now and next year, this afternoon's spin out was probably the last of 2021. I decided to enjoy it and not charge about at my usual (modest) pace, but take it easy, stop to take photos, bunny hop on and off kerbs and ride down steps. It was a leisurely 13 miles from...

Not as bad as that, but when I was a kid I was bombing through an alleyway on my BMX when all of a sudden I was lifted off my bike. The last thing I remember before cracking my head on the pavement was my bike continuing on without me. When I came to I saw a wire rope stretched across the alley, and...

I think I might get one from the shop - only at a knock down price though. Feels like it might be an interesting experience to get it fired up and working. It's one of the places on my list of places that I'll probably never get to. I read an an account of it's exploration by RM Patterson, a fantastic author who moved to Canada after WWI: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dangerous-River-Adventure-Nahanni/dp/1894898869 People tend to fly up to the headwaters th...

Experiment with the angle too. I've seen pics where the bars are angled anywhere from horizontal to about 25º, and the riders were comfortable with the angle they chose.
