My kit is a mix of grey, black and the light and dark multicam patterns. Pretty standard, but at least they won't fade.
A shade other than black is a nice point of difference.
Am partial to a bit of these

Re: Dreaming of a new bike
That richey looks very nice. To my untrained eye it appears very similar to the solaris so ticks a lot of the same boxes. I'll dig out a photo in a bit. I'm running 29 x 2.4s which I'm liking but happy to report their is lots of space at the front end, so will be trying out 29x 2.6 out front at som...

I use this approach too. Those blankets really pack down to nothing

Always thought the solaris looked decent. However recently built up a Ritchey Ultra which I'm totally fair chuffed with, may be worth taking a gander

Re: Head torch recommendations?
E lite is a great stashaway torch, always find those little disc batteries have a surprisingly long life Use an Alpkit 3as number for around the farm, the red light mode seems ideal for sneaking up on ewes lambing My fave for longer trips is the Black rock Revolt (bright enough to use while riding)....

Pretty content with my content kit array and newly built up Ritchey.. But having endless funds would open up scope for trying new things. Would like to try out a Cutthroat and have something Ti based (Timberjack or similar offering from Moots) If I can have a tractor on demo for 4 months (not sure I...

Not sure of this stoves dimensions, but I have a Treadlite gear bag for the msr kettle (ramming all the kit inside) https://www.treadlitegear.co.uk/zipped-titan-kettle-stuff-sack-137-p.asp They seem to do a decent range of other msr pot/stove bags that may suit.. I seem to have a weak spot for their...

a DIY version would be grand i imagine, stretchy panels do aid restless sleepers and not tying yourself in knots(me)
That price is scary I know, I paid under 50 for it in a close down sale..still a chunk for something so rudimentary

I had a Rab silk liner (long version) which worked well till fell apart with heavy use. Nice boxy shape and 132g. Now have a stretchy silk number from Sea to summit, pretty sure it's this? https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/sleeping-bags-c21/liners-c22/silk-stretch-panel-liner-mumm...

Re: We now have actual bikepacking tents.
It might be a leap but bikepacking.com gave some glowing reviews of the big Agnes tents so it would’t surprise me if these tents are just a response to feedback about what would make them better for bikepacking. Bikepacking is a growth outdoor market so manufacturers are jumping on that bandwagon I...

Quilt wise - are there any shops (online) that stock cumulus quilts in an XL fashion (extra baffle). Or is standard procedure to get in touch with cumulus?

Re: We now have actual bikepacking tents.
Anything for a slight tweak and another sale, still companies thinking about how tents are going to be packed/carried is nifty. I've a normal BA copper spur 2 and must say it's been my favourite tent out of several over the years. As Whitestone said it's pretty massive inside and the side porches ma...

Re: Dropper posts
My go to saddle bag is a PR mr fusion which has a frame bolting onto the seatpost, so with my newest build I've stuck with rigid. Tempted to pick up a Brand x dropper and swap the lever to a wolftooth, as the prices at present are rather low.. but generally fall in the 'can't be bothered to keep swa...

Not owning a disc rohloff, do you still have to use their own rotor? Somehow led to believe that was the case. If so do they function fine enough?

Re: Talk to me about Rohloff
Big Rohloff fan, though not used in my current bikepacking stable. Mine is built into a 26" expedition style bike (vbrakes and standard spacing) so now semi retired. If I was going to build a designated dirt road rigid tourer (think Ogre/Ecr type thing) and heading out on a long trip I'd go the...

Re: Drop bar off road advice please
I've been increasingly thinking (lusting) over bikes of this ilk. A bike in this category, alongside my hardtail, would cover pretty much all my bases. I've come across some Singular Swifts that seemingly play well with drops, I presume this would make it fargo esq. What I really like the look of (o...
