Re: Steel 29er choices
I'm counting the days til November as have a Ritchey Ultra on order. Ticks a lot of your boxes geo wise, looks lovely too. Downside is boost only It does indeed. I know you can space hubs etc. But that's just annoying. I also got excited about it being designed for a 120mm fork, but the specs say a...

Re: Trespassers will be persecuted
Like others would like to think some common sense would be applied, but generally don't think this would filter down to the realms of bike tramping et al. Who knows? But who would have the time/effort to follow that up. For me the leave no trace aspect is key, as sadly larger traveller sites don't p...

Re: Two man tents
I have a Big Agnes Copper Spur 2, can't recommend it enough. Would think the downside would be current uk price (also look for deals which include the footprint) as I purchased it from REI. Have used MSR Hubba hubbas in the past but much prefer the BA I have now. Tent is about 1.2kg, plus maybe 150g...

Re: Bivvy recommendations around Reading...?
I guess it depends how much riding you want to do in that eve. Getting onto the ridgeway is a good shout (if dry), although i find the bivvying options slightly reduced on that side of it. (well just a bit further off the way) If you hide from early riser dog walkers Aston Rowant nature reserve is a...

Re: Lightweight Trousers..
Depending on the season and space requirements l would either go for merino long johns and light running/ bike shorts.
Also use Montane Featherlite Trail Pants (120g, size of a medium avocado/orange). Great to take the wind chill off, often pair with 3/4 merino bottoms for post ride/sleep kit.

Re: bib tights, without pad.
I picked up some Giro New Road Thermal Tights last season on the cheap and they really fit the bill. A tight design instead of full length bib, which i prefer when matching with fave padded shorts underneath. I've seen these popping up on sports pursuit et al

Must.Not.Buy.Another.Prism. Any idea what those Discovery shorts are like? I've been after a pair of not-so-baggies and Expensive hipster brand have discontinued their Touring shorts. Ha, yes .. Prism stuff is good. Disco shorts, no sorry. Not tried any PedaEd kit. For plain and not flappy shorts I...

I have a porcelain rocket mr fusion. Nice piece of innovation. 13L dry bag married with a holster/mini rack combo, rock solid stable. Potentially a bit dear to get one over here, but certainly the quality is there. Only thing I'm envious of sometimes is the exterior loops/straps of a Viscacha type b...

Re: Way betterer this year ... Chilterns Winter Bivvy
Despite some trepidation saying this prior to meeting one and all of the SE gang, if l'm not completely ostracised by my own doing, I'd be happy to provide a bivvy/camp site next Spring or whenever. (aside a few things I run the family farm just outside of Henley and have a rustic camping field that...

other day was daydreaming if a bike could take over from my rather old quad bike for farm duties.. A Bigfatdummy could do that, although it might be a little tricky getting the sheepdogs in, fitted with an electric assist like a stoke monkey it wouldn't even be too much hard work, I once carried 3 ...

Can see how it may appeal to the hunting/fishing crowd in the states, if they cared to ditch their pickups

That kind oif confusion doesn't sound like a problem I'm based just outside Henley so not sure if that's South or West chilterns, as a point of difference. Is the overnight stop a private campsite per se?

Thanks for all the response. Looking in to the Urban Arrows now, trying to figure out where to check one out in the flesh. Initially dismissed the Ebike variants, but now thinking it makes a whole lot of sense given the total weights involved. That Tern looks like wicked fun, but not quite the cargo...

Cargo bikes
In everyday bike related life does anyone have any dealings with cargo bikes. Experiences and recommendations, both for models and shops to deal with. Do you use your cargo bike for varied tasks (on top of hauling kids) or a pop up business perhaps? I've had previous experience with a 8 Freight, but...
