Re: Indian Pacific Wheel Race
Looks fairly concluded to me for the top three finishers. Can't still believe the distance they've cycled in a dozen or so days
At least Mike will get to the finish before Kristof in the TCR

All had horns and weren't highland cattle. The standalone bull was massive, almost like a statue in the setting sun! Was watching me all the time and when I retraced my steps and followed the fence line in the none bull side, they all bar the big bastard chased me

Pull the tape as tight as you dare! Most taping on road bikes that comes undone is due to not doing this

Daft question (never stopped me in the past!), if your free time starts in May, why not set off earlier?
Guessing snow will be the factor in this but perhaps tour other parts of North America first?

Am I right in thinking Mike has put in an extra ~80KM or so on top of Kristof in one day? That's impressive

Re: Todays ride
^^^ Where is that John? Nice local ride for me after work, finding some new to me bridle paths in Cheshire and taking a wrong turn in a farmers field to be greeted by 6 bulls - am sure you can't keep such animals on a public footpath? Slow puncture too but vaguely exciting sunset to go balance thing...

Got a new eTrex in November, new from amazon for £125ish. Been impressed with it, needs an SD card for extra memory but it's a great piece of kit.

If you can afford it, then do it. Maybe not as a race but as a Tour and you'll be grand. I'm sure the old saying of "you'll ride into fitness" will come true
Perhaps go NoBo and pass the racers?

Same as Whitestone with the summer tyres (although I'm thinking that the team issue are lighter, whilst the SE have the re-enforced sidewalls)

Regretfully, Eoin Marshall was injured after a vehicle collided with him on the outskirts of Tarlee in South Australia this morning. Local police responded at the scene. Eoin was treated for a head wound in Tarlee initially and then transferred to the Lyell McEwin Hospital in Elizabeth Vale for fur...

Always say this but it's worth carrying a slime tube as your spare tube. Just in case it all goes badly and you need to put a tube in, the slime tube may just prevent a missed out thorn from ruining a ride.

2 is plenty for me. 1 x jones plus for offroad 1 x disc trucker for commutes/tours. tho this is up for sale. being replaced by a sturdier surly. In coming around to this idea, one for work and commuting and another bike (in my case, singlespeed commuter and rigid, geared 29er for fun stuff). Curren...

Sometimes, I do wonder whether people buy 'all the bags' then feel obliged to use them - finding things to put in them rather than simply leaving them at home? I suppose I take a little personal pride in not carrying much ... obviously embracing your inner tramp / masochist helps here. Quite...

Re: Indian Pacific Wheel Race
Mike had to stop last night according to facebook, he conceded that traffic was bad (nearly hit a few times?) and wasn't worth the race itself
