WTD: windproof gilet medium SORTED TA

Looking for a very packable gilet that stops me from getting cold from the wind and short summer shower so windstopper or decent in house alternative fabric. Really trying to reduce my footprint and, as this is on the want list rather than the need list, I cannot justify buying new. In similar vain ...

Re: WTD: medium hardtail 26" 135mm

I have a steel 456 frame but unsure of the size. I’m 5”10 so think it may be a large. Welcome to it for postage and continuing the legacy of my first “proper bike” I’m in the Cotswolds or Birmingham for collection

Re: Silly Ideas...

I’m a big fan of silly ideas. Some of my fondest memories on a bike have been silly ideas. So silly that the only outcome you can predict is failure. You take the small victories and the unexpected in your stride. I definitely think you have to be in just the right mood for silly ideas to be success...

Re: FS: Praxisworks 10 speed 11-40 cassette

As above, cassette surplus to requirement as I have moved to 11spd on my cx bike. After £45 posted. Cheapest I could find online was £87.50. Was used on the spare road wheels for my cx bike, so plenty of life left in it. Cheers Mark Hi If that other bloke didn’t have it, would I be able to get this...

Re: WRT 2019 Story Telling

My Wrt. Just riding my bike My journey started with classic mishap blagging, due to me not being able to read months, the critical chainring for my bike was due end of May so I could not ride my bike to the station. No bother, I loaded it up, took the wheels off, used two heavy duty Velcro straps fr...

Re: Two days with no resupply?

A tub of cheapest peanut butter in the plastic jar has a good balance of fat for calorie density and protein for muscle recovery. It works for less bland porridge, snacking on scoops, on wraps/pitta for lunches. Also a malt loaf squished up to about a quarter of its packet size is a proper top of a ...

Re: Buffalo shirts on bikes

I have one and have always enjoyed splashing in puddles so actively look to go out if the weather is looking feisty and it is my go to for those expected storms. It does get hot but I just zip the sides right up and fold it over itself like a crop top which gets too much when going uphill outside of...

Re: Bamboo feedback.

I wore underneath my work clothes and slept in it for two weeks and smelt about as bad as two days for a regular cotton tee shirt so five times better. One thing I have never understood about this odour free fabrics is that you are only as smelly as your smelliest thing which will always be my sweat...

Unwieldy luggage

I do not have a car but wanted a Christmas tree for my flat. Now yes they do deliver them but that is right boring so I had a better idea. I would take it on my bike. I picked up a few, trying to find the lightest and shortest, then saw one I liked so went for it anyway. It was 6ft to the tip. The b...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

October effort This was totally unplanned and unprepared and I thought I was going to end up missing out October altogether. A chaos filled, but mainly irrelevant backstory lead me and my brother to miss the last bus and mode of transport from Sofia to our destination of Dimitrovgrad. It was only 2p...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

September BaM (yes it is October now, but I’m rubbish with months and haven’t had any WiFi) This month was odd in that bikepacking developed from a hobby into my means for survival. The first week was incredible riding the TNR. Slept in some cool places, saw some big hills, great trip. I would be qu...

Re: Headlamps (Lockable specifically)...

Not necessarily lockable but my alpkit gamma has removable aaa batteries which amounts to a similar thing. Plastic casing looks like it could be used a fair bit but this would still be a faff. I’m sure there are better options out there but it’s 180 lumen output is enough to bimble by, darkness desc...

Re: Torino nice who's doing it this yr

What a trip! Start to finish it was tip top. Route, riders, rowdy descents, roadie climbs, riding my bike. Day after day it took my breath away. You may appear to really enjoy doing it James but it is proper fab so thanks for the experience. Didn’t want it to ever end, then, due to a monumental cloc...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

Board was boarded at every available opportunity. On the smooth ups a bungee chord was used to secure the frame bag and a dog walkers lead used to haul it along. Not as daft as it looked, but that isn’t hard as it looked right daft. I’ve gone from 0 to 2 bikes in the space of a day so reckon a prope...

Re: Bivvy a month 2018.

So I am in a bit of a sticky situation in that I didn’t have a complete working bike I could ride til I go back to Birmingham at the end of the month. Rules can be a bit boring and I gave it a good substitute. I am interested in what defines a bike. Self propelled motion? Wheels? Gliding downhill? W...
