Re: What you done t' your bike today
Out on the mountain bike last night and noticed that grindy feeling in the steering towards the end of the ride. Thought to myself, I bet that headset is in a right state after a winter of mank. Stripped it down this morning and sure enough it was in horrible condition. Cleaned it all off (is there ...

Re: Blimey a bike packing event in 2021
Anyone heard any word on the HT550? Yes - The group start for the HT550 is still planned for 22nd May, but Nicola Sturgeon's briefing yesterday was very downbeat. Sadly I think the group start is now highly unlikely - for a start it sounds like no tourism facilities will be allowed to open by then ...

Re: 'Made to lose' :???:
So what's the point in doing a massive press launch like this if no-one (in the UK at least) can buy your product? I've often thought that doing the press launch too early reduces sales. You see a video and think, I'd like one of them, have a look around and the bike's not available for months. But...

Re: 'Made to lose' :???:
Leaving aside the marketing video, I was quite interested in the bike so naturally tried to see if there was anyone in the UK selling them. Short answer: no. I think I found somewhere which said perhaps April. So what's the point in doing a massive press launch like this if no-one (in the UK at leas...

Re: Camino-ish
I had a (too small) Camino and bought a PX Goldrush. Unfortunately I don't think it meets a few of your requirements but it is a lovely bike  I'd imagine there's a alu or plastic equivalent in their range though. Think they have stopped taking C2W at mo'. Thanks, it looks like the Goldrush is...

Was about to push the button on a Sonder Camino but they're now sold out on the options I want with no prospect of imminent restock, so I'm looking for an alternative. The criteria... - In stock or available by mid-March at latest - Around £1,500 - GRX 2x or would consider 1x - The Camino has cleara...

Sonder Alpha wheels
Looking at a Sonder Camino at the moment and thinking of upgrading to the Alpha 700 wheels as the Novas don't have the best rep. I can't find any reviews - anyone have any experience with them? Thanks

Re: Brand X Ascend dropper
I have used one, no issues. With an Apidura dropper compatible frame pack. (light kit in it only for stability of the pack) on a 31,6 I used a valais on a 30.9 I used a piece of inner tube taped in place and just took care not to lower it into the seal. With the wildcat bag, which I also have, you'...

Re: Brand X Ascend dropper
I carried too much weight in my seatpack (cooking stuff etc) and it didn't wanna fully extend back up. I had as much air pressure (about 270psi I think) as my RS pump could squeeze in there after the service.... Yeah, I used to cram all sorts in my seat bag, but I can't stand the sway so try to kee...

Re: Brand X Ascend dropper
Mines a 31.6, external routing. I didn't know they did and internal, but my frame's not drilled anyway. I like the way their cable is fixed at the base of the post and doesn't go up and down with the post, makes routing much easier. My seatbag is a myog, but most seatbags are a similar size/shape. ...

Re: Brand X Ascend dropper
Cheers Sean, good to know. I need the 30.9mm version, 125mm of drop and internally routed. If that's what you've got I could be interested if you're selling.
What seatbag have you got on there? MYOG?

Can you ID this bike?
Someone will know the answer to this, I'm sure. What's the bike pictured in this article on the Revelate Designs blog?

I like the look of it, but can't work out what it is.
Thanks

Beerbabe looks good, thanks - I see she'll make custom too. Hadn't thought about putting a top tube bag in the frame!whitestone wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 12:41 pm Try Beerbabe - she makes bags out of old innertubes.
Alternatively just use a top tube bag inside the triangle.

Downtube bag for tools
I'm looking for a bag like this from Bedrock: https://www.bedrockbags.com/gear/sinbad-stash-pack It's to carry tools on the downtube (inside the triangle, rather than underneath). The Bedrock bag seems quite reasonably priced, but postage from US + import charges pushes it up way too much. Anyone kn...
