Re: Packrafters - What Paddle

I use both of the top two on your list and like them for different things, but would normally grab the xti if my wife hasn't got it first. I feel for me it generates more power than the other and prefer the shorter and fatter blade shape. I also prefer the shorter length. I know JC uses the red padd...

Sorry this might be a bit late, but you can probably build a loop from Wem towards grinshill, then down to haughmond Hill, then Shrewsbury (cafe break), then out to nesscliffe and back to Wem.

Re: Recommend me a new hardtail

That’s a decent plan… Funny that you find the sizing is a bit small when their sizes are longish, long and longer  I’m 6ft exactly so sounds like I’d be on the biggest size.

It fits fine length wise, it's just the seat tube length, but most of my height is in my legs.

Re: Recommend me a new hardtail

I have the pipedream sirius and have to say it's lovely. I got it with their rigid fork as it is massively capable round a trail centre and I would assume for bikepacking aswell (I haven't used it in this role). For 2k I'd get the frame and their rigid fork then a suspension fork as well (something ...

Re: If there was a BB App ...

How about one where you upload your route then it calculates the amount of streams to swim, tussock to battle across and its overall type 2 exposure rating. Then just tells you to stop being soft and get on with it

Re: bike seat for carrying a toddler

We have a trailer and an Mac-ride for our 2.5 year old, he loves the mac-ride and it fits on both my fatbike and fullsus and only takes 2 minutes max to swap between bikes. Stable enough to make it round trail centre blues too, which he did back in the summer.

Re: Pipedream A.L.I.C.E

Well I thought I'd better report back with what I went for. In the end I did get a pipedream but went for the sirius and its companion rigid fork over the Alice. This is so it can be a fun hardtail with angles that I feel confident on, haven't had a big ride on it yet just a play in the garden but i...

Re: A question for mr climber/Stu/or any pack raft users

There are a few brands out there, Firstly do you want tpu (lightweight) or pvc ( heavier, less packable but more robust) There are a few of each around. Apart from the far east brands and one of two others the 3 big players (higher end) are: Anfibo/MRS from the germans at packrafting de (also availa...

From when i asked the geo on the website is based on a 120mm fork sagged at 25% which is the equivalent a to c of their rigid fork, I can hopefully give sone more details after the frame turns up

Re: Anyone paddled the Wye?

Ive not paddled it but its on the hit list. There is a pretty comprehensive guidebook to it called, the river wye canoe and kayak guide by mark rainsley, i think you have to go a fair way down from yours to get to the touring/non ww sections

Re: What training app?

I like Rouvy as it gives real life videos of rides around the world, i think they do a free trial. It doesn't have structured plans to follow but doea have a career mode where you have to do certain challenges and routes to level up, and regularly releases challenges where you have to ride certain r...

Pipedream A.L.I.C.E

Evening all,

Does anyone on here have one of these and could give a bit of a review, as ive had a bit of a look online and cant find much information.
I would probably look to run it singlespeed with 29er tyres for quick jaunts from home and the odd commute to work.

Cheers

Those Jones hubs are they rear spaced or front spaced for the brake rotor, or a special jones standard.
Would they fit in a front spaced 135 qr fat bike is what i suppose i am asking.

Re: narrowest tyre on a 40mm rim ?

Ive got a 35mm rim and it completely depends on tyre brand over listed size, had a maxxis 2.3 on there which squared off lots but now have a specialized 2.6 which measures up small which is fine. You might find looking at one of the 2.6 from vittoria (the mezacal) or one of the bontrager offerings (...

Re: Strapping a bicycle to an expensive rubber dinghy

I tie my fat bike on with two home made straps, i just got some webbing and g hooks. I just secure the wheels with that tail of the strap, but i have just got some of the voile straps to try, mainly for securing the raft to the bike as i have a fairly large raft when rolled up. I just make sure the ...
