Too much cable...
Just building up a new bike, think I've got a couple of feet of brake cable to trim off :x Why do shimano insist on giving so much, I knew I should have got the shop to do it for me! Oh well, at least the rest of the build is going well except I forgot to get a new middle ring and some chaining bolt...

Cheers yetiman, didn't think of that.
Barney, I'll let you know when I'm next out. Was going to be this weekend but I'm building up a new bike.
Loggerheads is a great idea, never thought of it despite visiting it a few times this year

Llandegla bivy spot?
Anyone know of any good spots to bivy/wild camp near to Llandegla? Thinking of a ride for the near future and using the centre for tea/breakfast, so anywhere within an hour's cycle would be good
Cheers :)
Cheers :)

It looks tempting but why do you prefer the Salsa over the on-one?
Also, with either, can you put 29er wheels on them and how would they ride?

Re: Bivi bag condensation question.
The most breathable part of your bag is the head area, the big hole lets all the heat escape. The toe box is the least breathable, hence why it's damp, the heat can't escape anywhere. A little through the fabric but no-where near as good as the top end. It happens with waterproof boots, damp toes an...

Fair play to the guy for carrying on into the town. Guess is the last thing you would expect as a reason not to finish a race like this :(We think he was near a lightening hit and was blown off his bike.”

Looks vaguely exciting, but then you're pictures make it look sunnier than it sounds :) I've been out on the weekend and have the same problem, I didn't take any when I was foul!
Getting lost on the bike is annoying, but being 4 miles out whilst walking is a 'shoot-me-now' moment :(

How about a mountain hardware Lamina 45?
Not sure of its ratings off-hand (5*C?) but it does pack down small and it's synthetic, so didn't matter if it gets damp :)

Specialised langster for the last 3 years, 20km round trip. It's now at the end of its life, so will be swapping over to my genesis equilibrium 853 at the end of the month. The salt in March pretty much finished everything but the frame off on the langster :(

Re: Solo bivi rides
First time was in February a few years ago near Moel Famau. Took a summer sleep bag, so was cold and a very long night but I survived :D Some mountain bikers went past on a night ride (both parties looking at each other as weirdos!) and a helicopter hovered above me about midnight (did get worried i...

Hi Malc, Completely forgot your forum name, so nice to put a real name and face to the forum name :D We had a look at the beach and the tide coming in, had a quick photo shoot and then departe our ways from Yetiman. After a short road section, we headed up a road climb about 1km north of Tre-d-ddol,...

Re: Sleeping bags, again, I know I can hardly believe it mys
My friend used a lamina 20 over the weekend and got hot duingthe night, so definitely worth a look.
Its also worth mentioning that sleep bag ratings rely on the person getting into the bag warm (do a few star jumps if needs be), well hydrated/fed and that the person is wearing some warm base layers.

Bag is 7kg
Bike with sleep bag+bivy+water is 14kg and thats a singlespeed
So, thats 21kg or 46lbs
Time to repack and ditch some kit i think, altough knowing myself, i'll add that extra layer of clothing, a bit more food etc...
