Got to agree with Middleburn Cranks, have mine with a Royce bottom bracket, done over 20,000 miles on them in 6 years and haven't had to touch the BB, just gone through 7 chain rings, this on a Singular Peregrine.

I can only suggest the Defeet Woolie Boolie socks, usually cost about £15 a pair and mine have lasted nearly 10 years now, merino wool and decent warmth too.

A lot of WTB tyres can be tight on the rims, but on plus side that is what means once mounted they tend to stay inflated fairly well (except Byways, they are the devils work with the worlds leakiest sidewalls!). Takes a decent amount of soapy water often to get them to "snap" on to the rim...
