That's a cracking little bike!
What sort of money were you thinking, or is this part of the big auction off?

WTB: 650b/27.5 non boost, qr wheelset
Evening all,
Tentative feelers out for a QR, non-boost 650b wheelset for my increasingly more niche/hipster/on trend gravelwanker bike.
Not sure how much I have to spend yet, so might as well go from budget up to bling..

Re: SS query - Rohlhoff alternative?
I have done quite a bit of pondering on this in the quiet hours.. 650b reared it's head as a potential for the off road stuff and keep the 700s for road duties. With that on my mind, I asked about locally and an old acquaintance has very kindly lent me some with spesh 2.0 tyres on it. To say I am ho...

I do like it when one of your videos pops up Neil. I am currently sofa bound most mornings from 4am to half 6 looking after our 3 month old and they do make a most welcome distraction!

Re: Thw story behind your BB name (and whats your street name)
From memory it was when I signed up to STW and "Bob" had already been taken, either BB hadn't started at the time or I didn't know about it. Whitestone is the name of a crag https://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=338400&Y=485275&A=Y&Z=115 on the family farm where I first starte...

1st part is a shortened version of my first name, last part is a shortened version of my last name and the middle bit seemed to fit with the 1st bit and I do love a furry kitty.

Re: SS query - Rohlhoff alternative?
Ah, I always forget that I'm an idiot.. Compact chainset so ratios would be 34x19 and 36x17. Still, very doable and very interesting. @scotroutes - thank you, I think running a half link SS chain puts me out of the running for the alfine tensioner. Very much appreciated though @BBNorm - that Paul's ...

Re: SS query - Rohlhoff alternative?
Ah, I think my excited typing has lost a little between brain and fingers
32x18 = 50 for off road (32x18=1.78 ratio vs current setup of 34x19=1.79 ratio)
And
34x16 = 50 for on road.

Re: SS query - Rohlhoff alternative?
fascinating - I can run a 32x18 which is very close to a 34x19 for off road and then a 34x16 for the road.
Thank you for that brilliant idea wriggles, I'm definitely going to think about that for ages :D

Re: SS query - Rohlhoff alternative?
I'm gradually moving to the possibility of having a 2nd SS 700c wheelset I can use on the road for winter duties as well as hacking about in the woods. This would mean an old rear mech instead of a £60 Rohlhoff tensioner.. Are there any others that spring to mind that would allow a bit of chain len...

Re: SS query - Rohlhoff alternative?
Thank you all for the replies. Apologies for the lack of clarity, Im looking for something that will allow the changing of chain length as the two wheelsets would have different sized rear cogs, hence the Rohlhoff alternative. I strongly suspect a cheap s/h short cage road mech is going to be the mo...
