I never knew toothpaste pills existed !
I've bought a few things. The website shop worked very well.
Well done Joe - Obviously a huge amount of work has gone into the site.

It's got to be a thing - the 2 routes share a short section of that old abandoned railway line - the TransPennine trail . - Perhaps in the spring LOL ???

Re: BB200 2020
So sad... Peaks200 I suppose it'll have to be (that'd be allowed won't it). Thanks MaM. Sorry for your situation of having prepared for it and everything cos at least I managed to get one go... Or combine the Peak 200 with the North Peak 100 route to get something not far off 300km ??? - That will ...

Re: BB200 2020
After last weekend's failed attempt I was all for throwing in the towel on these 200 and 300 events. But after reading all the other stories, deciding to buy a Toro, take a pizza and seeing the weather forecast I now want to re-attempt it this weekend ! (I can't cos I'm in the Lakes, but I never cea...

Re: Quick-link tools
I have the Granite Talon ones and they work well and are well made, strong and as light as my pair of plastic tyre levers. - These double up as a pair of tyre levers, whereas if I recall the Wolftooth offers only a single tyre lever. I had a set of plastic ones quick link pliers but they were not st...

Re: BB200 2020
Just catching up on the debate about farmers. - Some great discussion there. I just wanted to clarify that although I was challenged by two different farmers in the dark hours, I wouldn't describe either as angry. The first appeared genuinely concerned about his cows and the second wondered what I w...

Re: My BB200 2020 (may contain spoilers).
Just got back to the car at the Fforest. Pretty ruined  28:01. My sixth BB200 and it might have been the toughest of the lot. Well done! - It was my first BB200, so nothing to compare with. - Relieved to hear it was a toughie! There were a few stretches of tarmac that need to be added to Shaf'...

Re: BB200 2020
I also bailed on the 200 - report on the other thread. Hats off to anyone who completes the 200 or 300 in any time. - It was brutal in the conditions. I got shouted at by 2 different farmers in the dark. One claimed there were cattle up on the track and they would be spooked by the torch and jump th...

Re: My BB200 2020 (may contain spoilers).
I met up with AlexinthePeaks for dinner at the Fforest Inn on Friday evening. - Great food and very friendly staff and locals. Kipped in the car in their car park and then left about 05:30 Saturday morning. It was very wet and soggy with huge deep lakes across the farm tracks. Alex left the car park...

Re: 1000mile Plus Route discussions
Possibly a personal thing, but I notice my hands/fingers getting numb after a couple of days. I first had this on the HT550 and it came as a shock. I have since done a lot with the handlebars to improve things (raise them and get more position options with inside bar ends and togs) but I still notic...

Re: Helmet Lights
I have a Mk 14 Joystick and am very impressed. I think they are up to Mk 15 now. I use mine standalone. On bigger rides I take a spare Joystick which doubles up as a power bank for topping up my Garmin. You can also get a tiny "Redeye Micro" LED to plug into the charge port. This is surpri...

I am committed now to starting from the Fforest Inn at first light on Saturday. Hopefully, I will be meeting up with Alex for dinner at the pub on the Friday evening. My target is to get round in less that 24 hours if I can stay awake and not get too bogged down! Really looking forward to it ! - Des...

I am I wrong to still be clinging to this comment from Bob ?
Back on track - unless it's well hidden I'm struggling to find any hike-a-bike on the route. A landslip or two that might make things interesting but most of the route looks eminently rideable.

Sees like a good discussion on the SOL Escape ("breathable") bivvy here: https://backpackinglight.com/forums/topic/90852/ To quote one of the comments: -This bivy is rain-proof for most cases; the pressure of falling rain (typical maximum 4mm diameter drops at terminal velocity) will not p...

Re: BB200 2020
I'm aiming to start mid afternoon this Friday - a different strategy to usual as I normally struggle to ride through the night after a full day in the saddle, so this time I'm going for a few hours before it gets dark with the idea that a fresh head will stay awake all night!! (it worked for me on ...

Re: Sol systems?? Anyone
I just ordered an XL one (Type B). This is the type I think that Stuart reviewed. It doesn't have a hole in the back and it does have a zip. It cost me £21.59 GBP including shipping. I await to see if I get charged import tax. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32973595622.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000014...

This review suggests that the breathable one is not waterproof:

I was looking at those laybys too. - They look OK on Google Streetview.JohnClimber wrote: ↑Sat Sep 26, 2020 2:41 pm Do we think the laybys on either side of the road at route distance 185.8km?
They should be safe enough to leave our not very posh cars parked up at, shouldn't they?
